We can see the top of Bhavani in the background. Soon Thejaswini will also join it on the skyline.

Another view of the Phase II site.......

The low earth wall on the left margin of the image shields the stream running throught the site. It continues on into the line of coconut trees in the middle of the landfilled area. Infosys plans to landscape this stream with decorative bridges and gardens.

T he 100 acre Phase III Campus will be between this and the existing campus. Land acquisition is scheduled to be completed in 3 months.

News of Techno-City!!

Some more updates on the Techno-City project announced by the CM in August. According to reports, quoting the acting CEO of Technopark:

* Land has been identified for the project near Pallipuram, about 4 Kms from Technopark. The site is adjacent to the 440 KV substation of the Power Grid Corp. Ltd (PGCIL). Pallipuram also houses the Group Headquarters (GHQ) and Training Centre of the Central Reserve Police Force.

* The extent of the project will be about 500 acres, which includes a 35 acre lake as well!

* Techno-City will be an IT/ITES based satellite township which encompasses IT space, residential facilities and lifestyle facilities. It will be on the lines of the Mahindra World City, in Chennai.

* Technopark expects this project to create upto 125,000 direct jobs. This is in addition to the 15-20,000 jobs Technopark itself will add by 2007. Technopark could be housing as many as 50,000 personnel in its three phases in five years time.

* GoK is looking for Indian and international partners for the Techno-City project as well as to complete Phase III development of Technopark. A Public-Private Partnership is envisaged, wherein private capital will be tapped without compromising on benefits to the people of Kerala.

This is a momentous development indeed!!! Along with Technopark's current expansion, this will take Trivandrum from being the IT hub of Kerala to one of the most preferred IT Destinations in India, alongside Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.!! Stay tuned for more.

Mere words cannot explain the beauty of the Technopark Campus.

An open air coffee shop with greenery and NILA building in the background.

The natural settings inside the Park make it unique among IT Parks in India.

Park Centre views.

Park Centre is, as Sudheesh mentioned, the nerve centre of Technopark. It houses the administrative offices including that of the CEO. It also has a state-of-the-art convention centre as well as multiple conference rooms, a large library and office facilities. It also houses the Technology Incubation cell and Software Competency Centre. Park Centre has a beautiful lawn, which offers a breathtaking view out across Technopark and the surrounding area, from the Arabian Sea in the West to the Western Ghats in the East. The building is also fully Wi-Fi enabled. A similar service will soon be rolled out across the whole campus.

Thanks Kronik...yup, it's indeed the Greenest IT Park in India!

Here is a picture of the pre-stressed concrete water tank in the middle of the roundabout near Park Centre. This towering structure has attained iconic status after frequent appearences in Malayalam movies!

In this view of the Water Tank, we can see the Open Air Auditorium of Technopark in the background. This beautifully executed structure serves as the venue for many of the informal events held here, most notably the annual cultural extravaganza, "Tech-A-Break". Sudheesh has some nice pix of the event, hope he posts them soon.

Another Image of the Technopark Campus Phase II

Here we can see finishing activity at the periphery of the Phase II Campus. Infosys will be starting construction soon, with a turnaround time of about 8 months for their Phase I. Details of how the remaining 36 acres will be distributed among the many firms queued up for land will soon be know. Stay tuned.

Thanks to Sudheesh for the image.

I like the tiled roofs and the traditional architecture of the TVM IT Park. Its much more aesthetically pleasing and is probably more environmentally friendly than the steel, chrome and glass behemoths that have become the de-facto standard for any modern bldg., let alone IT parks. The dependence on central ACs and so on makes them power guzzlers with no thought to utilize the natural coolness even in places like Bangalore.

The layouts and roads in these pictures look great. Is it a general scene across TVM, or is this so nice only in the IT areas? If it is a genral scene, I guess TVM would rate as one of the cleanest and well planned cities in India.

@ Nelaturi - Thanks for the comments. Yup, Technopark is a welcome change from the steel and glass designs preferred for today's IT buildings. Along with the lush greenery in the park, this architecture creates more natural and pleasing environment for the techies to work in.

The roads inside Technopark are especially clean and tidy, as one would expect, but Trivandrum has indeed often been referred to as one of the cleanest cities in India!

The white minibus passing by the other side of the road is 'Technopark Express'.

It is operated by the 'Park Centre', on a circular trip between the two gates of Technopark and all buildings.

It also connects to the public transport connection points to the city at Kazhakuttom Jn and Karyavattom.

It is free to commute inside the Park and ticketed if goes out of the Campus.

In the morning and evenings, it goes to the Kazhakuttom Railway Station (a Trivandrum suburb station, 15 km from the Central station and 9 km from Kochuveli Satellite Terminal)
