Manchester and (from memory) I think Salford have their planning meetings tomorrow.
At the Manchester meeting they'll be discussing the following that are recommended for approval; - Graphene Institute, 5 floors - Refurbishment of Gateway House, Piccadilly - St Peter's Square Metrolink & square redevelopment - Airport City ... amongst others; http://www.manchester.gov.uk/egov_do...nuary_2013.pdf At the Salford meeting - which I can't find the .pdf for - they'll be discussing; - Hotel la Tour, 14 stories, and - the Springfield Lane foodstore and apartments. |

Not that strange, rather drunk after a night out, walk home by a canal, trip/stagger and fall in. It's why they put that glass fence on Canal Street...

plus a few think it would be 'fun' to go for a swim, not realising their inability or how cold it might be

http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesi...ry-billionaire It would be interesting to know the behind the scenes story of the original FCMoMA plans/collapse. Also the fire station quote, which was made almost 6 years ago now makes for a depressing reminder of how little has changed over time... hopefully moveupandon can inspire a better outcome on this front for when we look back on todays post in 2019. |

Think this may be more down to the fact that they're having nights out in places that have quiet surroundings i.e. Warehouse Project in Trafford Park / Salford. If someone was to get in trouble in a canal down there then there won't be any passers-by to help. Also there's not great late night transport from out there so people attempt to walk home along the canal.

Manchester regains global top 30 spot for MBA
29th January 2013 By Chris Barry - Editor, North West MANCHESTER Business School has regained its top 30 place in the Global MBA Rankings. Last year MBS slipped to 31st, but has now been ranked 29th overall - meaning the institution is back to where it was in 2011. In the survey, which is topped by Ivy Leage duo Harvard Business School and Stanford Graduate School of Business, Lancaster University Management Scool was unchanged at 71st, but some 30 places below its rank of 41st in 2011. Lancaster though was ranked 4th overall for the best value MBA, compared to Manchester's 48th. This ranks the institutions by the value of their alumni's salaries, compared with course length, fees and other costs. Just nine UK institutions make the top 100. The others are: London Business School; University of Cambridge, Judge; University of Oxford, Said; Warwick University Business School; Cranfield School of Management; City University, Cass; Imperial College Business School; University of Bath School of Management and University of Strathclyde. Professor Michael Luger, Dean of Manchester Business School said: “We're immensely proud of our alumni who have achieved such outstanding career success since leaving us. "In a tough economic climate investing in your career progression by taking one of the world’s best MBAs is a crucial decision and return on investment is key. “Manchester’s programme stretches our MBAs - both intellectually and practically. We invest significantly in the amount of client contact our MBAs experience throughout the 18-month programme, which is designed to ensure the original thinking they learn is applied to solve business challenges in the real world." The Global MBA Rankings are published annually by the Financial Times.

Whilst approaching Piccadilly on the train on Sunday, I saw a couple of not very tall T cranes being erected in the general vicinity of Eastlands.
Anyone know what they're there for? |
