LOL.. thanks, I mean including the height above OSD, so for example the ground level is say 246 metres above OSD and then including the height of building to the actual roof it is ... ?

OK, thanks for this, I'm in process of writing to Eric Kuhne, Dandara and Birmingham Council about maximising consent on the proposed tower Victoria Tower, I think that the fact Birmingham city centre is so high above OSD has limited Beetham tower in the city some time ago, probably won't do any good but just wanted to know roughly these facts before I write. Thanks again.

Maybe you would like to know that Eastgate Tower has been approved, and the height of that to its roof is significantly more, at about 240m.

Am I the only one who was hoping for a few more exclusives/news stories to come out of MIPIM?

Band On The Wall
Two years ago, legendary live music venue, Band On The Wall closed its doors for the last time, leaving the infamous Manchester music scene to be turned into karaoke fodder.
However, rumour has it that it’s coming back, and this time bigger and better than ever. Band On The Wall is to be renovated as part of a £3.8m project which will see it reopen in autumn 2008 with recording studios, mixed-media equipment, educational facilities and plans to make live performances available for download over the internet. The secret headbangers of Manchester City Council have also chipped in with £700,000. From starting off life as the George and Dragon in 1803, Band on the Wall has been the city's most eclectic music showcase for almost 200 years. It has played host to jazz, blues and reggae greats, including Art Blakey and Desmond Dekker, as well as the likes of Joy Division, The Buzzcocks, Mick Hucknall and Bjork. In the 90s it welcomed club culture, before the best of drum 'n' bass, hip hop, nu jazz and broken beat after the millennium. But the plug was pulled on the historic Shude Hill venue in 2005 after it fell into disrepair and the renovation project suffered several setbacks, with costs spiraling to more than £6m. Ian Croal, Chief Executive of Owners and registered charity Inner City Music, said: “We are very much hopeful that Band On The Wall will reopen. Detailed design proposals and a business plan have been submitted to Arts Council England, Manchester Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund. We expect the three organisations to make decisions on the project by July.” The original plans included the redevelopment of the Grade II listed building next door on Swan Street and the Cocozza Wood building to the rear, on Foundry Lane. However, the Cocozza Wood building has been dropped from the plans and a separate solution is being explored by its owners and Manchester Council. Mr Croal said: “The project is about the rebirth of the venue, with new spaces, new facilties, new technology and new ideas. The existing main performance space will not be radically changed but will be enhanced, with heritage features conserved and the audience capacity improved.” Plans have been streamlined for the redevelopment and grant bids submitted to several funding bodies and construction is planned to start in September.

Thanks to ric at desginfood for this article
Asks a few questions though - we know about the Bruntwood building but what about the other things mentioned? Denton Corker Marshall move into Manchester International architectural practice Denton Corker Marshall set to add Manchester to their London and Melbourne offices 2007 is set to be an exciting year for Denton Corker Marshall. With the completion of their first major civic building in the UK, the Manchester Civil Justice Centre, only weeks away, and with three additional projects in Manchester on their drawing board, they are going to experience a great amount of growth. Alongside this, Denton Corker Marshall is shortly going to announce their new offices in Manchester later this week. "With our existing commitments and new projects in the pipeline, it really does make sense for us to have a permanent presence in the region", says UK Director Stephen Quinlan. The offices will include an eight storey office building, a mixed-use development comprising a nine storey office tower, 100 room boutique hotel and 200 apartments and a 12 storey office building in New York Street, Manchester. This answers my question: http://www.dentoncorkermarshall.com/..._200703014.pdf Whitworth Street thing and something at Spinningfields

Be good if they could set themselves to task on the corner of High St/Market St...need's something plump and prancy to invigorate that old sock.
I swear to this day I once read Leibeskind was had something up his pipeline for this corner (retail build)... |

Hotel
I couldn't find the City Centre Hotles thread and I got upto page 10 so here goes.....
Work has finally started on the Yang Sing, Chinese Boutique Hotel, on the corner of Portland St and Princess St! Hooray! I'd almost given up hope on this one! With the Whitworth St/ Princess St West Proposal, the area will be given two huge boosts! Should we start a 'Save Our that grotty corner of Portland St' campaign......
