I know some gay people who lives in Seattle area and some US cities have visited Dubai this year and last year. Two of them mentioned they witnessed some people in Dubai attacked two men because they were holding their hands in the public. They did it because they thought Dubai is only liberal city in Middle East and they were wrong about it.

i live in United states and i have seen gay people being bullied and even beaten up in front of me, it happens every where but there is no doubt in my mind that gay people are safer in America than in UAE or any other middle eastern country

Same here. Very few US cities are safer for gays such as Seattle, San Fransisco, Portland, etc.

Is the air always so dirty looking? Unfortunately it detracts from what is a spectacular development. I assume it is dust blown up from the desert? Can someone confirm?

No it isnt, I was born in Dubai and lived here all my life. I've never seen anyone being attached for holding hands "only".

I hold my friend hand sometimes and I never faced such things.

I guess you got lucky. I'm only telling you what my friends told me and they said its crime to be gay in Dubai which is why they had to keep it to themselves and didn't being open about it. Enough of it.

Let's get back to the topic, please.

Actually, it would be interesting to see what sort of prices will be offered for rooms and facilities, both on and off season on the Palm.

On the topic of seasons, what is considered the on and off season in Dubai and will it be affected by the developments now taking place such as The Palm Jumeirah?

Check The Palm Jumeirah thread in the UAE forum. All you want to know is already there.

and for the prices, they will be similar to the current beachfront hotels in 5* category.

I doubt a price correction will take place when it comes to hotel rooms (which are freaking expensive right now, 2nd highest average rates in the world) before 2010.

Even if, the Palm Bonus will make up for it.

Its looking stunning!

I like that Blue house in the first pic. Im guessing they know someone important as there must be very strict rules as to the colour you are allowed to use for the facade on those houses.
