The entrance. Don't be deceived by the photograph. It's getting on for 7 feet wide in the entrance hall. Note how far away the doors to the balcony are.

Interior

Lounge / Diner. This is the true brightness of the place (some of the other shots are dark because I'm facing towards the window with my crappy little camera set on auto).

Master bedroom. When you are standing there it is much more spacious than it looks in these photos. I've seen a King size bed in one of these rooms and it fits fine with plenty of room to get past. Trying to be objective - it's good. Not a problem. In fact, it's very nice.

All in all it is a great, very spacious apartment. You'll love it.

I don't think you will see over the top of the Golden Mile buildings though. Mine is on the ninth floor, and I don't think I will either. Might get a view over the top from the 10th and penthouse levels.

Have a great trip. I had a brilliant time last week and met a lot of nice people (including our very own Richard Head!).

QE2 set to become floating hotel

Dubai is to buy the Queen Elizabeth 2 cruise ship for $100m (£50.5m) and turn it into a floating hotel off the Gulf emirate's man-made islands.

The 70,000-tonne vessel, launched by the Queen in 1967, is to be sold to the Dubai World firm by Carnival, the world's largest cruise operator.

Dubai government-owned real-estate developer Nakheel is building three palm-frond shaped isles off its coast.

The ship will be berthed from 2009 at a pier at the Palm Jumeirah development.

'Maritime nation'

Dubai World, whose investment arm Istithmar has made the purchase, also owns shipping company P&O.

Istithmar hopes to recreate the QE2's original interior decor and fittings, and to establish a museum charting the ship's history.

Dubai World chairman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem said: "Dubai is a maritime nation and we understand the rich heritage of QE2.

"She is coming to a home where she will be cherished."

Well, one of the world's most famous ships is being turned into a permanent hotel at the Palm Jumeirah.

Er... obviously very good news for Dubai.

It's a shame that they are making such a brilliant ship a permanent hotel!

Yes it is.

It is the third year in the row that they are being spotted in Dubai coast, which is way far from their usual feeding routes. No doubt the Palm has to do with that ... as it has to do also with the increase (or sudden appearing) of jelly fish, poisonous sea snakes and sting rays.

Let's hope the big great white one will not pay a visit

Very nice pictures, AltinD! Thanks for sharing. The first shot is amazing.

Those big fish swimming around residential areas seems very dangerous. If more of these began to come, what would happen then?

First of all the pictures are NOT mine. I didn't took them, I just reposted them. Secondly the animal is a whale shark, a totally harmless animal that feeds on planktons.

Young marinelife is attracted to shallow waters becouse it protects them from larger predators.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. Just one more question:

If a property is bought here, does it include the shoreline (as seen on the perimeter/down the stairs, in the pic)? or does that belong to Nakheel?
