Of course the following of safety regulations is relatively poor but the huge number of projects underway is the main couse.

BTW: I strongly support the idea of an IQ test before anyone is let loose on the internet.

Palm Jumeirah's Anchor Marina on schedule to open in December
Staff Report
16 September 2008, 13:16

Dubai: Island Global Yachting (IGY), marina developer and management company, announced that Anchor Marina, the first marina on Palm Jumeirah, will open in December as scheduled.

IGY also confirmed that it will launch an exclusive online auction site to lease berths to owners and residents of Palm Jumeirah.

Anchor Marina's 590 berths will provide private yachts, between 10 to 30 metres in length, modern infrastructural elements such as spacious concrete pontoons in conjunction with some of the most modern technology available to boat owners, including LED illumination, underwater lighting, wireless internet connections and bespoke concierge services.

It will offer guests the choice of two clubhouses; one located on Anchor Marina East and the other on Anchor Marina West.

The East Clubhouse will be designed for families while the West Clubhouse will have a sophisticated atmosphere with fine dining restaurants.

State-of-the-art technologies are being implemented across Palm Jumeirah to safeguard the environment. These include employing innovative approaches to conserve materials, water and energy, and reduce waste generation. Additionally, the use of environmentally friendly materials and building designs has been encouraged on the island. Buildings are fitted with insulation and double glasing to minimise energy loss. Apartments on the Golden Mile have solar panels, which provide emission free energy for functions such as water heating.

thats wat it says. Nothing about it says anything related to the marine life habitats ruined by this project. Dubai lover; why do u like Dubai so much? just curious (i think its kinda cheesy)

Well, I do not think someone's user name can fully explain their opinion on a topic. So, "why do u like Dubai so much?" is a generalization and is a faulty question. But regardless, I will address the question as best I can:

I like Dubai due to its multiculturalism, its uniqueness, its ability to destroy the stereotypes of the Middle East, Arabs and Islam. The remarkable vision that all residents of Dubai share is something that I find truly inspiring. There are other reasons why I have come to love Dubai, but they are "hidden" reasons that I only notice when I pay meticulous attention to a specific issue that relates to Dubai.

Do not get me wrong, there are many problems in Dubai (should be expected as the same thing can be said about every city in the world). Massive growth, the lack of dedication by some (not all!) expatriates to Emirati society (some would say the same applies to Emiratis as well), and the belief that "the biggest and most expensive is the best" are a few things I can think of off the top of my head.

One of the things I hate most about Dubai would be the urban structure.
This means:
  • the lack of a true central business district (yes there is Deira and Bur Dubai (the closest Dubai has to a CBD), but they are overshadowed by the extremely high rate of polarization and development of business/commercial centres throughout the emirate),
  • too much dependence on the private car (hopefully this will be fixed (but it will not be solved) with the opening of Dubai Metro in September 2009),
  • and simply that everything is spread out (except in certain areas).
Of course, my criticisms are premature as Dubai's growth is not yet complete. Once everything begins to slow down (relatively speaking) will we know the true impact of this boom on the infrastructure and organization of Dubai as a city.

stewartrama: Cut it out, Troll. You don't seem to like anything and have never posted a positive comment, besides the occasional agreement with other haters.

Your one step away from being banned, so good riddance!
