I heard that Burj Dubai is 3 months BEHIND schedule.

Also (fact) they haven't yet appointed the glass supplier for the faccade and the supplier for the metal profiles to be used on the part that will go above the concrete, which seams to go to a height of no more then 600 meters.

I think the habitably floors ends at 575m. See the news from arabtecuae:

The additional height will be gained by extending the steel pinnacle "that sits above the 575 m-tall" reinforced concrete shaft core. Each of the three tower cranes on the Burj has a maximum lifting capacity of 25 tonnes, and each has a cable in the drum approximately 900 m long. “The cable already weighs eight tonnes; if we extend the cable length, the weight of it will become unfeasible, so we do have a height limit which we cannot exceed,” says Al-Joudi.

It´s a pity. I hoped that i can stand at a sightseeing point at 800m. But nearly 600m is also okay

we already knew that there will be a concrete part being 575m, but it is wrong that the steel structure will NOT contain habitalbe floors.

the concrete structure has 154Floors alone, from what we know.

altin where did u hear that btw.

well i would think Emirates Glass will probably do the facade, and u r right, the steel structure contract has not been awarded.

Nevertheless an opening end 2008 is still possible, however there is no way it will be completion date also.

they have never claimed so anyway, handover 2009.

Please don't think that the question about update pic's was in any way an insult towards those who supply them - my respect knows no bounds. I only felt that the the condecsending respone to the question was uncalled for. You don't get to see history in the making very often and the almost daily updates can make one spoiled. My hats off to all those who take the time and effort to keep us all up to date. Many Thanks.
