Those larger floors appear in and around the set backs, it probably has something to do with that?

I think the larger floors will have something to do with skylobby's. There are always a couple of "central" floors in a skyscraper.

Usually these are where
-you change from a lift to another (of course, the lifts from the bottom do not stop at every single floor!)
-they put common spaces and facilities, shops or restaurants, hotel halls...

In addition to that of course are any mechanical rooms or any other function space that may require higher than normal ceilings. Otherwise the couple posts above tend to cover the other needs of a higher floor height.

That glass is looking nice!

Amazing to see this tower grow as fast as it does, even though im more impressed by the speed of Shanghai World Financial Center. Now i feel im starting to look forward to see facade details comming up in the lower parts of the building!

Why didn't they build it a bit closer to those other buildings? And does anyone know when the facade might start going up?

Because other buildings are being built closer to it. Notice the gargantuan Dubai Mall to the right in that one pic. And the other hotel being close to it, forget the name, then you have Old Town, the Residences, etc....it will fill up in a few years time.

As for facade, I don't know, but seeing as how the building is still relatively short and small, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Can someone tell me more about the two side buildings of the tower (the ones that are shaped like bent triangles). Does anyone know about their future function. Also I'm wondering what the surroundings will be. I saw a tennis court on one rendering and two street roundabouts at another. Does anyone have more detailed information on the official current plan for that?

germantower please read through threads before asking questions, the point of a thread system is being able to go back and read what has been posted in the past. In the previous page its at lvl 46 and 173m.

Regarding the observation tower, i beleive there will be a couple of ob decks. The first is a skylobby at lvls 76, 77 and 78. The second is a dedicated observation deck on lvls 142 and 143. Both these are simply speculation as heights and structural detail have not been released yet. Im baseing myself on a render of the plans released God knows when and by God knows who :P
