Wow...he can love w/e he wants. I happen to like it to. Take a look at you sig for more wisdom. I think your sig says something like who are ppl to tell us who we cant love and who we can (pertaining to gay relationships). Perhaps you were just being sarcastic.

Ok the model and renderings you guys have seen were done like in 2004. Here is someone who have recently seen the original...

Gehry's Beekman Tower Update: 'Sort of Baroque'

When we revealed the renderings for Frank Gehry's Beekman Tower in downtown Manhattan (above center, with other Gehry friends courtesy NoLandGrab) earlier this week, we acknowledged that they were from fall 2004 and probably had evolved since. A secret Curbed correspondent with, ahem, access takes it from there: "I've seen new renderings of the Beekman, and the scale seems right (the overall form of the building in the renderings on Curbed conforms to what I saw), but the images you posted don't compare to the renderings I've seen. What you're showing looks like a skeleton without its skin. It's difficult to explain. Think Gaudi in titanium. Sort of Baroque."

NEXT WEEK for the official renderings!

Middle school cut?

Just as Community Board 1 is looking to add more middle school seats in Lower Manhattan, a Dept. of Education official told a board member that the city is thinking about reducing the number that residents thought they had already won.

A C.B. 1 member said at a meeting this week that Region 9 deputy superintendent Mariano Guzman had told him the proposed 630-seat K-8 on Beekman St. may be in for changes. Guzman warned him that “we’re not going to officially comment at this point but there is a possibility that the site might call for far more elementary school seats than middle school seats for your community …. Maybe we won’t be talking about K-8 classes in whatever fashion…and maybe it will just be K-5.” The none-too-pleased member told Guzman “we need middle school seats.”

When asked about the possible change from a K-8 to a K-5 school, Guzman told UnderCover: “I have no comment at all on that.”

The project also includes a 75-story, Frank Gehry-designed apartment building. A spokesperson for developer Bruce Ratner said Gehry’s new drawings will be released next week.

And all of sudden these dubai-like buildings are poppin up in all of manhattan. Lower Manhattan is probably the worst place to put these buildings. LM needs art deco! Not this shit!!!!

Phantom, you're totally right. And i pratically cry everytime i go to New York and i see what they did with the Singer Building, the Savoy-Plaza Hotel, and the City Investing Building.

We need more buildings like the CitySpire Center of Murphy/Jahn, Inc. Architects, or the One Worldwide Plaza of SOM, or the Carnegie Hall Tower of Cesar Pelli, all built in the last 20 years.

This building and the 80 South Street are one of the worst thing that can happen to Lower Manhattan.

I really appreciate and admire the sculptural cum architectural works of Gehry. Nice deconstructive design and concept undertaken in a high riser!

arghhh I don't like it...its architecture will take to much eyes from the uber beautifull Woolworth!!! This tower shouldn't be built so close to a historic icon, not at that side....it will spoil my view in the future when walking on Brooklyn Bridge!!!

Gehry designs wacky shit, I can't understand why they actually bother to give him the time of day in NYC. We need some Zaha Hadid in New York!

Calatrava, Norman Foster, Morphosis, Libeskind, Renzo Piano --- Kickass Architecture

Gehry, Arquitectonica --- Worthless

better than i expected when i heard gehry was designing for the site.... it's not too bad, in fact, i'd go so far as to say that i like it. it's not hugely unorthodox, so from a distance will keep it's shape and form... but it's interesting!

Ewww.....

Not only do I hate the design, but it will completely ruin the skyline in the area, and I find it highly offensive since it looks like a bombed building

Someone needs a whooping for this!
