Kuwait Airways Code Shares with Alitalia Kuwait Airways and Alitalia have entered into a Code Sharing Agreement on the Kuwait-Rome-Kuwait routes effective 14th January, 2007. This was announced by Mr. Saud Al Mukhaizeem- Deputy Director for Planning and International Affairs. Mr. Mukhaizeem said that starting from 14th January 2007; Kuwait Airways would be operating thrice weekly from Kuwait to Rome and back, in cooperation with Alitalia and Kuwait Airways will be the operating carrier while Alitalia will be the marketing carrier. Kuwait Airways will also reserve a fixed block of seats on its flights for the sole use by Alitalia, which will allow Alitalia to market its own flight numbers for its traffic between Kuwait and Rome. He stated that the agreement would enhance the already existing commercial ties between the two airlines. Mr. Mukhaizeem added that the new agreement would provide operational and commercial benefits to both airlines and offer better quality of service to their passengers. Extending this agreement to cover other routes may be considered in the future according to Mr. Mukhaizeem. The agreement was signed in Kuwait on 11th December 2006, at the Kuwait Airways Head Quarters; in the presence of Shiekh Talal Mubarak Abdullah Al Ahmed Al Sabah-Chairman & Managing Director of Kuwait Airways and H.E. Dott. Giorgio Di Pietrogiacomo, the Ambassador of Italy. Representatives from Kuwait Airways included Mr. Dawoud M. Al Dawoud, Director Planning & International Affairs and Mr. Saud Al Mukhaizeem, Deputy Director, Planning & International Affairs. Article |

Kuwait leasing firm boosts capital to expand
KUWAIT CITY (AFP) - Kuwait's Aviation Lease and Finance Company (ALAFCO) is increasing its capital by 24 percent to 214.5 million dollars to finance new expansion, its chairman said. Ahmad al-Zabin said the decision was taken as part of the company's mid-term plan to increase its fleet to 50 planes after three years and to 80 aircraft by 2015. ALAFCO last month signed a deal to buy six Airbus A320 aircraft at a cost of 300 million dollars, with delivery starting in 2009. It currently owns 18 aircraft of different types and also manages 15 others. During the Dubai air show last year, ALAFCO ordered 12 Airbus A350-800 aircraft valued at around two billion dollars, with an option for six more. The company, which was listed on the Kuwait bourse in October, has announced its fleet will rise by 10 aircraft in 2007. Jointly owned by Kuwait Finance House (KFH), the emirate's leading Islamic bank, and the state-owned Kuwait Airways Corp (KAC), the company has long-term lease contracts with nine international companies including Indian, Chinese and Yemeni airlines. |

hey guys.
since i've got several family members who work for Kuwait Airways, including my dad, i've got some insider info that you might find pretty newsworthy. between now and 2008, Kuwait Airways plans to add the following destinations to their network: Toronto, Canada; Chicago, USA; Washington DC, USA; Beijing, China; Shanghai, China; Sydney, Australia; and several destinations within South America. they've apparently placed orders for new aircrafts and are planning to renovate their current fleet to bring them up to better standards. we might be seeing some changes very soon. here's hoping. kuwaiti_patriot

^ I hope so; but ALL these destinations are unlikely in 2008; maybe two or 3 only. Crazy, I use SMS service in Emirates. I sent a message to my dad. He thought that we were going to crash, but I told him in another message that I was just using the cool service. Its a dollar for every message you send and a dollar for every message recieved.

Officially Watinya will launch in July 2007, unofficially the 3 shareholders are trying to agree on the strategy so the launch may be delayed.

Kuwait Airways reaches for ends of the earth
Sheikh Talal Mubarak Abdulla Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, chairman and managing director, Kuwait Airways Corporation, tells TTN that the airline plans to launch routes to China, Australia and South America in 2007 What are Kuwait Airways’ plans for 2007? Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) has witnessed a leap towards progress in 2006, by displaying outstanding performances as well as by providing renowned hospitality and award-winning service to its passengers. In 2007, we will adopt the best expansion strategies, with the help from international experts. Concerning other improvements, KAC has started issuing e-tickets and implemented services like the Cargo Accounting System GASS and the Automated Admission System Kiosk at Kuwait International Airport besides renovating and establishing new business and first class lounges like the Dasman Lounge in Kuwait, as well as in a number of international airports. The corporation has also developed its first and business class seats on B777 and A340 flights. The economy class seats on A320 have been replaced with luxury leather and are bigger in size. We also introduced two new destinations for customers recently: Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, and the Indian city of Ahmedabad. In 2007, we hope to expand our horizons to China, South America and Australia. Are you bullish about 2007? Yes, we at Kuwait Airways are optimistic about the New Year. In 2007 we will see fleet upgrading and also expanding operational networks. We are also preparing a study in association with the United Nations Development Program on our networks and operations for the next seven years. Such a study will aim at purchasing new aircrafts in order to meet our ambitions; to spread our wings to various world capitals and grant additional new services There will be possible negotiations with Airbus and Boeing regarding short-term (2007-2008) upgrades in its fleet. How do you intend to tackle competition? While working relentlessly to strengthen our position, Kuwait Airways faces tough competition globally as well as from local markets; but we view these challenges as opportunities for superior performance and continued perfection. Our strategy is to set the standard for customer orientation and become an admired airline to fly, to invest in and to work for. Our mission is to provide distinguished customer oriented services that combine novelty with tradition. (end) interesting little article. seems there might be a shred of hope for the airline's recovery. although Qatar Airways, Emirates, Gulf Air and Etihad Airways are obviously way ahead, i only hope we can pick up the pace somewhere along the line. kuwaiti_patriot
