They should create cylindrical one of a kind air bridge.

From what it looks like so far, I would say it will be the most architecturally defined and impressive Airport terminal building in the world.

Now that would be interesting!

i'm wondering why the Chinese Gouv is investing a lot of Airport Facilities in Shenzhen while the Hong Kong Intl Airport already have the capacity to handle a lot of International flights and flights in and out from Mainland China ?

I know that Shenzhen is almost bigger than HK but still .

With both destination booming the Chinese government would be insane not to invest in Airport infrastructure...

Because the border is still there for 34 years and 6 months. Plenty of time to earn back the investment.

Besides, the HK Airport is far, far away from Dongguan, Huizhou, Guangzhou... Even without taking account of the border, SZX is conveniently accessible to much larger population.

For a big project like this, you don't build it when it's 'needed'. It will be needed though - well within the lifespan of the airport.

I need to find an excuse to fly into this airport again and see terminal 3 when it's completed.

Shenzhen is twice as big as Hong Kong, either area or population. And Dongguan and Huizhou residence tend to use Shenzhen Airport more.

You have no idea how crowded Shenzhen Airport was. Not enough rooms for passenger in terminal, not enough bridges for airlines to use, not enough rooms to accommodate aeroplanes. Some of them will need stay on the taxi lane untill they are able to load people on.

Also you have no idea how does the Chinese-Hong Kong border works. You cannot just use Hong Kong Airport if you feel like to do so.

To say, Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel is going to be built by 2015 right across the sea and landing on the south of Shenzhen Airport. Shenzhen Airport will be a much better choice for Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhuhai residence.

I am originally from Shenzhen and live in England now. Every time when I travel between the two countries I have to choose Hong Kong Airport coz there aren't any better choices for me.

The journey for me will be: home - take the metro/bus/taxi/private rental cars to the border checkpoint - queue at Chinese border check to leave China - queue at Hong Kong border check to entre Hong Kong - take the train/bus/taxi/private rental cars to Hong Kong Airport - Check in and blah blah blah - queue at border check to leave Hong Kong.

The queues will take from 20 minutes to 90 minutes each which is the most annoying part and you cannot assume how long it will take exactly.

I have tried to flight from Shenzhen to London via Singapore once. It took only 20 minutes to the airport although I have to wait in Singapore for 12 hours.

If there are more international flights connecting with Shenzhen, that would definitely be my only choice.

Spending ages to ship to Hong Kong and wait at both Chinese and Hong Kong border? Why don't you just use a more convenient and controllable one?
