there was the plan of building the satellite buildings of terminal 3. but now they are replaced by a new terminal 4.

What is the proposed location of T4 and what are the specs (even if approximate)?

My best guess would be directly opposite T3 to the north and most likely similar design but larger. They would complement each other prefectly.

Terminals A,B and D on top (East)
T3 at bottom right (South)
T4 at bottom left (North)

Thanks bearb. This gives a perfect idea of the plan. I suppose the capacity of such arrangement should be in the range of 100 million passengers annually?

I make sure it: They will start building the third run way and the T4 in 2015, and open around the 2020.

Guys, check out today's Shenzhen Daily. They have two pages only about the airport opening on Thursday.

Shitton of new pics! Scroll through all the pages!

http://www.gaoloumi.com/viewthread.p...extra=page%3D1

Every time I see new pics I am amazed yet again. So trippy and psychedelic and light and airy and ultramodern, absolutely insane! In my opinion, undoubtedly the best building of any type worldwide.

Thanks for the link, amazing pictures indeed!

I looked through them and was struck by this:
Judging from the photos of the check-in hall with its big windows to the drop-off curbside, it would appear that the photos were taken during the daytime.
And yet, every photo that shows a portion of the polished floor has reflections of powerful artificial light beaming down from the ceiling! In other words, the architecture seems to devour/absorb so much daylight that artificial lighting is necessary all day to prevent the place from descending into permanent dusk. What energy consumption!

Amazing, unsusual, spacious, ultramodern, no doubt.

But if you want to connect to the world around you by way of simply looking out a big window, then it will be necessary to hike to the ends of the concourse.
Otherwise, you are INSIDE the architecture with nowhere else to look.
Compare this to Hong Kong airport next door: from almost anywhere on the departure level you can see the planes, and the sea, and the ships, and the hills.

Will that go down well with non-airport-geek passengers?
