Airport is not the only station for the line. There are other factors and I believe they have a construction priority under limited fund.

Shenzhen is a bit slow on metro construction but across the country metro planning and construction are in good progress.

Why in god's name would anyone in Shenzhen take the metro to the airport, anyhow? Taxi is most convenient, and barring that, bus is a far better option.

mainly because it's cheaper. And metro is better than ground transportation in that its travel time is predictable, esp when you have a flight to catch.

I took the metro from the airport to the hotel a week ago, it was the best alternative, if not by much. It would come to around 40 minutes in all three cases, but there was no risk of getting stuck in traffic. Taxis would be more convenient (and expensive), but I had no heavy luggage and I even got a seat.

A few days later I took the metro from Guangzhou South Railway Station to the Baiyun airport where there were no quicker alternative and I was on a schedule. That took one hour and was seriously crowded (everyone in Guangzhou wanted to take those two trains it seemed), even by Beijing standards.

The winding shuttle bus may be a temporary step back, but all things considered it's not horrible (40 minutes is pretty much the international standard travel time from airport to city) and in two years time the service should hopefully be among the best.

Traveling soon

After having closely following this thread for months, i would be traveling through this airport. I was going through airport's English website but it is no match to the websites of Singapore or HongKong for example, the information is limited and in most cases not enough. Hope my travel experience would be good...keep you posted

Speaking of airport connections, is the futuristic Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Express Railway project connecting the two airports in Shenzhen and Hong Kong on, on ice, or off?

CI sends 747s to SZX. At least they did when I flew them to SZX.

Fantastic! I'm willing to see figures for Chengdu, Hongqiao and Kunming as well. These four are a very close match, and besides, they are likely to join the world's top 30 within 3-4 years.

and China Southern will put one A380 onto the operation from Shenzhen and would be flying in Shenzhen-Beijing route later this year, as Shenzhen Airport now is still under the category 4E defined by Chinese Aviation Authority and awaiting to be approved it has upgraded and reached the standard 4F in order to handle A380.

CZ also said the route to Phnom Penh was planned, the route to Seoul Incheon would be more frequent, 6 A330s would be serving routes from Shenzhen.
