Yes, of course. It is a proper terminal not a satellite concourse.

This was extremely short lived.

Air China axes Melbourne-Shenzhen flights (again)

Australian Business Traveller
by Chris Chamberlin | June 23, 2017

UPDATE | Having finally launched non-stop Melbourne-Shenzhen flights on June 20 following a string of earlier delays and cancellations, Air China is once again axing its Melbourne-Shenzhen flights, with the service to wrap next month – less than six weeks after it began.

Air China's final flight from Shenzhen (CA767) will depart on July 30 2017, with flight CA768 leaving Melbourne for the last time on the same date and reaching Shenzhen on July 31.

A spokesperson for the airline would only tell Australian Business Traveller that this was due to "Air China network capacity adjustment", but would not respond to questions seeking assurances that the remaining scheduled flights on this route throughout June and July would proceed as planned.

Air China's termination of these flights comes as its rival China Southern Airlines commenced its own year-round Melbourne-Shenzhen services this month.

haha yes
Let's see whether China Southern will use the same strategy to compete with Air China on the Melbourne Route, and try to run the Brisbane service before Hainan Airlines

Hopefully not. I'd much rather Hainan on the route, they are a 5 star carrier after all!

Airport to renovate for intl. transfers

Shenzhen Daily
2017-08-21
Han Ximin

[email protected]

THE Shenzhen airport will start an adaptive renovation of the international area of Terminal C and the long-distance domestic flight boarding area Aug. 25.

The renovation project, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, aims to optimize transfers for international passengers and improve the facilities.

The renovation involves areas totaling 7,000 square meters that cover the long-distance domestic flight boarding area, the international transfer area and the inspection area for international departures.

The airport will double the number of security check passages to 10 and increase the size of waiting areas at the long distance departure halls, according to the Shenzhen airport.

International passenger turnover reached 1.648 million between January and July this year, an increase of 29.5 percent over the same period last year, thanks to the opening and growth of 19 international routes in 2016.

According to the development plan, the airport’s yearly international passenger turnover will reach 5.5 million by the end of 2020, accounting for 10 percent of the total passenger turnover. Now, the airport handles more than 40 million passengers a year.

In another development, the Shenzhen airport opened its urban waiting hall at Zhongshan Passengers Port on Friday to serve travelers using the ferry service from the west bank of the Pearl River to the Shenzhen airport.

Air travelers can access check-in and luggage consignment services at the service hall before taking the ferry to the port of the Shenzhen airport, which takes about 45 minutes.

Travelers from Zhongshan must leave their homes 4-5 hours ahead of their flights at the Shenzhen airport if traveling by car or bus.

Now, they can go directly to Terminal C for departure by taking a shuttle bus from the port to the Shenzhen airport, which operates on 15 minute intervals, and they don’t need to carry their luggage as it will be transported to the airport and consigned with their flight.

The Shenzhen airport has set up more than 20 urban waiting halls in eight cities, mostly in Pearl River Delta cities, and operates more than 20 bus routes between the airport and the waiting halls.
