It begs the question is there really any need for such a bold lighting scheme on this elevation of Heron when it's going to have this slap bang next door.

I read the Evening Standard yesterday on the train and they picked up on the fact SSC has yet to give this a nickname. They even suggested one for us, 'the whopper', due to its much wider profile than other city towers.

What's really interesting about the City is how when these buildings are demolished there's even more crap ending up exposed.

Yeah, its no Seagram building, but in some lights it looks pretty good for the international style

Good point. The Herons lighting scheme is best viewed from afar, when 100BG is complete it will block out most of the South face. Better make the most of it then.

Hmm nicknames… how about The Block or Stumpy Joe .

This building gives the church to its right the respectful breathing space it deserves whilst simultaneously annihilating an entire street of post-war dross! perfect! (there is so much post modern crap in the surrounding area - I'm hoping for more skyscrapers to bring change for the better..)
