KL has a station on the Kelana Jaya (formerly PUTRA) line called University...

The station services Universiti Malaya...but it is located high above a series of elevated expressway on and off ramps....Im not even sure how a person would get to Universiti Malaya from Universiti Station.

Hong Kong has Kowloon Tong Station, offering service to 3 universities (City University, HK Baptist University, and HK Polytechnic U), as well as a KCR station for the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The extension of the Island line will have a stop at Hong Kong University.

Cheers, m

HK Polytechnic University is close to the HUNG HOM KCR East Rail Station, not in Kowloon Tong!

In the future, there will have a University MTR Station at the University of Hong Kong.

Can you send that monorail to Monash's main campus in Clayton when you're done with it? The place is way too spread out and it can be a long walk between lectures.

All there is now (other than lots of buses) is an unused light rail reservation, which is a bit on the useless side because it's a long way from the rest of the tram network.

The University of Dortmund has its own driverless hanging train system! It's called H-Bahn and connects two campuses, a technology center, a suburb and the Dortmund Universität S-Bahn station with each other.

Website: http://www.h-bahn.info/en/

The S-Bahn station is underground:

A university with it's own hanging monorail, now that's cool.

Probably the busiest university line in our country is a bus line. It runs in the town of Utrecht (where the university with the same name is located) between the university complex and the central station (which happens to be the busiest national train hub - due to Utrecht's central location in The Netherlands). Line 12 uses a special kind of extra long articulated buses:

During peak hours, this bus line runs at intervals of 3 minutes and less.

Other stations that serve an important connecting function - but not being entirely reserved to the university's use:

Delft: station Delft Zuid. In the near future, a new tram line (19) should run right next to the university's campus;

Amsterdam: Weesperplein metro station is located nearby the main building of the University of Amsterdam; the 'sneltram'-station 'De Boelelaan/VU' serves the complex of the Vrije Universiteit (Free University) - it actually carries the name of the university ('VU');

Eindhoven: the central station is located at a few minutes' walk from the university complex.

I bet there are more stations in the Netherlands that are heavily used by students, so the list is not complete.

Funny to mention this after so many years of change and indeed there are still some unfilled gaps. Here are some (railway stations unless noted otherwise):

Tilburg Universiteit: near the University, serves 8000 passengers a day, pretty much compared to its other suburban counterparts in the region.

Nijmegen: Heyendaal is a comfortable station for some of the faculties especially when travelling by train from the south.

Maastricht: some faculties are located closely to Randwyck station. Also, Belgian trains stop here as well.

Enschede, the last mile is one you should do by bike but many from outside the city use the Kennispark station in Enschede.

What about Kralingse Zoom metro! Though still requiring to walk it is an easy station for many students living in Alexander and around Utrecht and so is used frequently.

But the most important change: Utrecht! The bus line, with its double-articulated buses was long overdue for some capacity increasings. To have double-articulated buses is nuts already and is mostly a sign a tram should already have been on its place. Now, indeed, a tram line is being constructed right to the University campus. And indeed, the tram is already over its capacity on beforehand, another sign that the Netherlands has become too tramophobic in the past decade. It will be finished next year:

Prohibit the construction of new single-family dwellings without stacking apartments in Amsterdam (A10), Rotterdam (motorway ring), The Hague, Utrecht (outer ring), Eindhoven (ring), Tilburg (ringbanen) and Groningen (provincial ring)!

And prohibit the use of agricultural land for new dwellings!

In Melbourne the transport department has created a website dedicated to university travel:
