The question is no longer will they sellout Ashburton, but rather will they get 50,000?
If that figure is right, it is due to security issues as Zagreb are some of the most hostile hooligans in Europe. Dumb ass, just wait till the season starts, you know that we shall fill the stadium out piece of piss. Let's discuss what a brutal arse fucking Old Trafford has just got with the new quads.

Security issues ehh? Just like security issues only allowed 50,000 for the Bergkamp friendly.

we brought over 1,000 for euro qualifiers in Debrecen and Dinamo Bucharest, who are no angels

Yes actually when a new stadium is finished you need two security test runs with 1/2 and 2/3 capacities before full capacity is allowed. Hence the 20,000+ who watched Arsenal train and then the 50,000+ for the Testimonial.

Funny you say that because the commenator said at the start of the game that Arsenal had an allocation of 2000 but what I wanted to say is, Sitback just ignored them ffs.

I can confirm that as a Red memeber who tried desperately to get Villa tickets last Thursday, they sold out in approximately 30 seconds.

Emirates will be sold out every game and Red members will struggle to get tickets all season (fortunately my Brother in Law is now Silver and can only afford 3 or 4 games this season... sadly he's picked all the 'big' ones).

Why does everyone have a fetish about attendances, who has the best fans, which fans are the most middle class, etc, etc? I remember having these arguments 15 years ago at school. It has sod all to do with stadium architecture!

well for a start arsenal would have to go past islington council in the first place, i believe they put the limits on the stadium such as height, capacity etc.

however i think expansion could take place by filling in the corners of the top tier to match the top height of the stands, so it would be a continous bowl rather than wavey in the corners. im sure an arsenal fan would know more about it than me.

I seem to recall reading somewhere about the slight possibility of expanding it to 70,000.

Brazil and Argentina to play at Emirates Stadium

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Emirates Stadium will host an International Friendly match between Brazil and Argentina on Sunday 3rd September 2006.

The match will kick off at 4pm and the Club is pleased to announce that Arsenal members will receive the exclusive first rights on purchasing tickets for this high profile fixture.

The forthcoming match will give football fans in the UK the chance to see some of the world’s greatest footballers in action. The Brazilian squad travelling to London is likely to feature key players such as Ronaldinho, Adriano, Kaka and Ronaldo, and of course our very own Gilberto. With the opposition line-up from Argentina set to include stars Messi, Riquelme, Mascherano and Saviola.

Argentina and Brazil have enjoyed a healthy rivalry since their first match in 1914 which Brazil won 3-0, and between them have won the World Cup a total of seven times.

The last time the two teams played each other was in Frankfurt during the Confederations Cup in June 2005, with Brazil triumphing 4-1. However, this match is the first time these two teams have ever played each other on English soil.

Arsenal Managing Director Keith Edelman said: “We are honoured to be hosting an international match between Brazil and Argentina at Emirates Stadium. It’s a complement to both our Club and our new stadium that we have been approached to stage such a high profile match between two of the most prestigious national teams in the world.

“I understand that both countries will be fielding their strongest possible line-ups and therefore we are all looking forward to witnessing a competitive match including many of the world’s best players.”

Because many of these people are not interested in architecture, but in the sanitized, anonymous confrontation that forums in the web provide.

Filling in the corners would detract from the aesthetic value of the venue. It would also break the airflow that those dips allow. Finally, I don't think that a higher "pleb" seating capacity is necessarily a good thing, while a lower capacity leads directly to higher demand.

filling in the corners? i think its impossible.the stadium is oval so if you want to fill the corners you must expand the stadium outside too

That of course is for non season ticket holders. Club level seats if sold on a match by match basis would probably be twice that. They are up to £90 for the Brazil, Argentina friendly. Amazing the first time I went it cost me 20p to get in, 5p for a programme 10p my share of the cab (my first ever black cab journey was to my first Arsenal game) and probably 5p the bag of chips on the walk home. 40p for a day out like that and we won.
