Has anyone noticed how much higher the towers curviture is beginning compared to the rendings? I mean the in the rendings the curviture of the building starts around the 7-8 floor but the curviture has not just begun and they are at what? the 40th floor?

Do you think it's going to be taller than expected?

I dont know. But they are half way through the tower and they are now just started to form the curviture. Either it is a design change or they are going to make it taller, maybe just enough to surpass Tapei 101 for nationalistic reasons.

the rendition with the square opening tapers around the 7th or 8th floor. but dont get your hopes up. i have checked the old renderings with the circular opening and it tapered where the real building does right now: around the 30 or 40th floor. so the building might or might not be taller than 492m. id be skeptical about architects adding to the height.

Damn you are right! What a shame! It looks like they have changed the design! The building looks most graceful with the "zip" coming all the way down. Why do they meddle with perfection?

^ But it doesn't need to be higher. It needs to be the right design. If it's too high it will unbalance Jin Mao too much.

Regarding "The taper" - compare it to post #1 in this thread, and the taper only appears about 15 and is only significant around around the 25th floor of the building. This seems to match what has been constructed. I'd still be suprised if they don't make it a few metres taller to be higher than Taipei 101. With the glass on it it might make the taper appear at a different height. Dunno?

No we need 19m!
492m + 18m = 508m which is the height of Taipei 101 + 1m to get taller than Taipei 101!

A great player like Zidane should not have made such a mistake. How could he hit Materazzi on the chest when everybody knows the chest is the toughest part of the body? Just a little jump and he could have hit him on the face!
I support ramming provocative, racist, dishonest and rough-playing footballers any day, Italians or not. In fact, it is one of my hobbies.
