Russia Far East

http://www.slate.com/id/2086157/

According to this article, in the future, Russia and China may discuss the

transaction of Russia Far East, similar to the Louisiana Purchase between

the United States and France.

What do you think?

The article talks why China SHOULD purchase RFE back from Russia, not that it WILL happen.

The possibility is definitely there, but whether it will happen or not depends on Russia's economy and how desperate it will get in the future.

far east area can be very important fto russia in the future when the east asia become the richest area of the world.but right now,the population of russia at there is dropping rapidly and europe is the key area of russia nowaday's policy,so it's possible for china to buy them back or use some other resource to make the deal attractive to russia.china and russia will have a good relation in the next several decades, they need each other.

China should discuss with Russia to purchase some part of the Russia Far East.

For example, China can purchase from Russia the Russian part below the Amur River.

The article can not defend the following line:

"China—and Manchuria in particular—has its own set of problems. Overpopulation..."
Northeast China is certainly not overpopulated compared to other provinces.

Good point. Compare to RFE, Northeast China is of course "overpopulated", but then again, that's like comparing Alaska to say, California... rather pointless.

yep,if russia can sell that back to us,I believe that there will be enough people go and work there.afetr china fiinished the urbanliztion,NW can provide enough food to the wole nation, because most areas at northern china and northeastern china are plain land, they are suitable for the large-scale mechanical operation with high yield.south china will be too developed to have agriculture, while southeastern china have no enough land for agriculture.

China should propose to Russia to purchase the Russian/Outer Manchuria. In return, China can pay Russia $1 Billion per year for the next 50 years or 100 years. The total cost is $50 Billion to $100 Billion or maybe higher or lower.

Please check this link for Chinese/Inner Manchuria and Russian/Outer Manchuria.

China at present has already a big territory to handle. Before thinking of buying or retaking parts of Siberia, it should make sure its outlying territories are always happy. Just like Russia, it might implode in the future. Empire starts small, grows big, then crumble.

Smile

If Russia sell that part of land, it means she will be totally insulated with Japan and America, maybe now the most two threats to her. However China will take over all of these, like land dispute, territory protection...And Except China, Russia will be no need to care anyone east, and far from Japan or America, less interests war, more international living space. Most important, lack of oil here. Even Russia has these benefit, it can't sell this land. Never possible, how the government face his people by selling land to get rich??

I dont think anything can be gained besides the boost of national pride from the purchase, unless Russia DESPERATELY wants to sell it, we should not consider it.
