I would not be sure about it:

One should not answer such provocations to an entire city with the provocation of an entire country. As I think it is surely a matter of taste, NYC is not ugly! Neither is England (even less the Kent region) grey. England has some awesome landscapes. And if you take Britain as a whole, it is a green, beautiful island with some rough climate in the Northern and Western parts which have an own charm - that of a dramatically rough and stunning landscape. We should not waste our time here spreading stereotypes.

I personyll like this one most. But you should not answer him. He said it 1,000 times before already. And he stated some cities as the most beautiful that no one really knows and showed pictures of these cities that no one wanted to see,....

I like Valencia a lot. The old city center, combined with the futuristic Calatrava buildings. Love it!

I think its a really underrated city.

I gotta disagree. The natural setting has a HUGE impact on how a city appears aesthetically.

Take Melbourne and Sydney as an example - two cities of similar age, with similar architecture etc. Melbourne is generally perceived as more "liveable", due to its relatively flat layout on a small river, and Sydney is more difficult to get around but so much more beautiful due to its natural harbour, hills, cliffs and beaches.

Same can be said for Hong Kong and Singapore - Hong Kong is so beautiful due to its location amongst steep hills.

Rio is a beautiful city. There are other cities with more beautiful architecture, but Rio's unique landscape takes the cake I think.

Uhh.... Venice, Paris.... the third is a tricky one - maybe Sydney, Vancouver or Rio for their natural setting? (as the first two were largely on the cities themselves).

Please, the most 3 beautiful CITIES in the world, not landscapes. Rio is an ugly city situated in a fantastic landscape. It's the same case in Sydney (fantastic skyline, gorgeous setting, nothing more...). When the pictures of a city are ever the same, changing only the perspective, that city offers too little. When there are a lot of differents pictures, the city is interesting, IMO.

Rio: the traditional pictures.

But this one is not Rio: http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/3879/rio1.jpg Kinyozi is in Nairobi, Kenya... However the other pictures are already horrible enough.

But let's not forget that Madrid suffered the influx of illegal immigrants forming the "Cañada Real Galiana", an illegal settlement with about 40,000 people, unique in Europe by measures of misery and size! So please don't start bashing each other here!

It´s true though. Cities like Rio and Yangshuo are situated in fantastic landscapes, but look at the buildings. I would hardly call them beatiful.
