Why are you so offensive. 40,000 was written in an article: http://www.dradio.de/dlf/sendungen/europaheute/684607/

Before you offend ME, you should call the journalists in the article "crazy" and those of the "El País" article who also state a similar number!

A lot of cities seem beautiful from far. But into the city, is very different.

Hong Kong isn't a pretty city (all highrises, without green scapes): all the pictures of Hong Kong are realized from far and only about the skyline

New York: South Bronx... It's horrible.

The US cities are also very similar: the downtown and thousands of single-family houses around it. The same in Australia and Canada. Too extensive.

The european cities are different: more dense, plenty of history, emblematic buildings, old churches... I Think the most beautiful cities in the world are in Europe: Paris, Madrid and Rome.

There was the portuguese empire, with lands in south america, africa and asia, that moved it's capital from Lisbon to Rio during some years where the metropole was invaded by the french.

Basicly the portuguese kings spent some years in one of their colonies.

Where does this mean Brazil having a colony in Europe?????

It's not always easy to see what is a joke and what is simply stupidity on the web.

Sorry if i was agressive.

Okay. It is difficult if you see something written. It is different if you here the tone of voice or the face when talking. This is the problem in forums,..

First, sorry for the commentary.

Basically, Cañada Real is a drug "market" in the south of Madrid. 40.000 is the number of "clients" who buy drug in this settlement, not the number of inhabitants. Please, translate efficiently.

Greetings.

San Francisco-this city is not only beautiful but the region around it is stunning. Capetown is nice but I really dont think it compares to SF at all. plus too many social ills in this region. Paris is monumental in a capital city sense, but not sure if it would be the worlds most beautiful. Paris may have the Lourve but it does not have a view like Twin Peaks in SF !

Well, for beauty, what about Sydney?

(Shot during the 2000 olympics or around that time, so it's a very old shot and many of the buildings in today's Sydney skyline and its surroundings aren't in this photo)

In terms of beauty, how much prettier can the harbour, buildings and the nature surrounding the entire city get? There's little to criticise about the "insides" of the city and the regions surrounding it too.

The pictures of Sydney are always the same: the skyline and the harbour. But, into the city? And out of the downtown? Thousands of low-rise buildings... Nothing more. Sydney is like US cities: an impressive centre and an anodyne surroundings. With all due respect, i like the cities that offered beauty and diversity in all its corners, not only in a part.

I agree. Sydney is great for it's setting not its architecture. Surprised to see people mention HK as well. The setting and skyline are great but 99% of the buildings are so ugly here.

The most beautiful cities I have been to are all in Europe. There are a dozen or so in Europe which to me are the most beautiful. Generally the mid-sized ones are the prettiest.
