Beauts~

San Francisco-this city is not only beautiful but the region around it is stunning.

Capetown is nice but I really dont think it compares to SF at all. plus too many social ills in this region.

Paris is monumental in a capital city sense, but not sure if it would be the worlds most beautiful. Paris may have the Lourve but it does not have a view like Twin Peaks in SF

Paris (architecture)
Buenos Aires (lifestyle)
Sydney (quality of life)

Most beautiful cities IMO. (I love New York, but BA's better)

"I am aware we each have our own, unique preferences, but I can't understand why anyone would rate NYC as the most beautiful. Central Park is stunning, but that's not enough. The landscape around NYC is okay, but it's not spectacular. Some of the architecture is absolutely awe-inspiring, but the style is not my cup of tea.

And don't quote me, tell me I'm wrong, and list a thousand parks or buildings in NYC that you think are beautiful, because that'll amount to nothing more than a pile of beans.

It's still an interesting place, nonetheless.

My top 3:

1. Sydney
2. Cape Town
3. San Francisco"

That is the beauty of opinions. You and I clearly have different taste in urban aesthetics. Sound like you rate cities according to their settings and their newness. Personally, I think San Francisco and Cape Town combined are not nearly as beautiful as Gramercy Park or any random steet in Greenwich Village. That is my humble opinion. Take away the scenery from either Cape Town or San Francisco and what is left is as ordinary as Indianapolis. All cities have their beauty. New York City is completely an achievement of man and not some glacial force or seismic deposit. In Cape Town, Table Rock means more than all of downtown. There is no signature building like the Chrysler, or Empire State or even the Rockefeller. Cape Town's setting is what gets it noticed.

Gimme a break those who don't agree with Rio and New York City. They are considered two of the most beuatiful cities in the world and there are too many good reason for it!!! Just take a look at the pictures.

I think Cape Town has a fabulous urban setting, regardless of the landscape. San Francisco's landscape is beautiful, but the aspect I like most about the city is its architecture. It's truly the underlying feature.

In my opinion, New York City doesn't have enough urban beauty, let alone a landscape that would compliment the city. In fact, I don't like the architecture at all. But don't get me wrong, I think it's a fabulous city. Quality of architecture is top-notch, and the city is breathtaking.

Yes it could, therefore, there is no need to take offense.
