So they raise the core first: 3 levels in 9 days - that's fast! I wonder how tall it will grow, before the rest of the tower gets above ground.

I love the round core. You don't see a lot of them and I think they just look cool.

I think a round core is more useful for a twisting structure than a square one...

I doubt that. If there are other supporting walls except for the core, they should be above each other.

Can't you just re-program the mean (green) fighting machine into a sentinel?

I dont know if i can laugh or be angry about your joke - because the pipes in the basement are for the stability of the construction side after nearly two years ago the sea break the wall and the construction side was flooded (and was so under sealevel)...

awesome tower. already designing one a bit like it for the gold coast. the towers design so far is for a 413m supertall with 89 floors. 413m is not including spire. that'll have to wait till next year with wind tunnel testing scheduled for September next year.
so far the design of spire is going to be about 91m and will be a bit like the deira clock tower. going to be awesome.

Infinity Tower in Dubai hit by 18-month delay
6 October, 2008

By Dan Stewart

Cayan's SOM-designed 330m twisting tower will not be finished until December 2011, it emerges

The Infinity Tower, a 330m-high twisting structure in Dubai Marina, will be completed 18 months later than expected.

Drake & Scull, a UAE-based M&E contractor appointed to the project, said that the £140m tower will now be completed in December 2011.

Developer Cayan Investment & Development originally planned to open the scheme in the summer 2010, but Drake & Scull revealed that the project has been delayed. No reason has been given.

Khaldoun Tabari, chief executive of Drake & Scull International, said: “We are delighted that work has restarted on Infinity Tower, a project we are very proud to be a part of.”

The building twists 90º from its base, creating a spiral-shaped structure. It has been designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the architect behind the Burj Dubai. Arabtec is building the tower, and British firm Currie & Brown is project and cost manager for the scheme.

Hopefully this is just the recalculation of the time schedule due to the water incident of 2007... and not a shortage of money. Progress on Infinity Tower has been excellent in September. But over 3 years until completion from now is more than I'd expected...
