For centuries people have depended on each other for ideas so we will benefit if we adjust our ego and idea of our "Swadeshi" movement. Many major international companies now have R & D centers in India so it’s just matter of time before we start inventing what we call “Swadeshi”.
Rushabh-Ji, East coast USA is densely populated as over half population or ~160 millions live within 400 miles of DC. We need to be very careful with investments in HSR. Better to improve point-to-point air connectivity for long distance and intercity everywhere else – it will be cheaper and better. It has worked very successfully for USA and will work for us regardless of size and population density. Infrastructure projects are exciting but the best ROI we can get is by investing in our future generation. ROI of schools and colleges will be lot more compare to roads and HSR. |

I agree air connectivity is also required but seeing the success of high speed rail in highly populated Japan and China I think it is worth giving it a try (and what better place than Amdavad-Mumbai)
P.S. Please dont add 'ji', it feels awkward as I'm only 19

Sunil bhai air connectivity in USA is effective because Boeing is in USA, US don't have to import 80% of oil and US don't have heavy taxes on air travel. In India anyone who travels from air is considered to be rich by government so all the taxes of other sectors like railways and others are levied on air travel. Govt. plans to compensate its deficit with tax on air industry. So, today air industry is in its worst phase.
Here rail fare is just Rs.540 for Duronto between Ahmedabad and Mumbai which is fastest train connecting two cities. While same journey takes Rs 3500 in economy class by plane. Duronto takes 6.5hrs. from Ahmedabad to Mumbai Central and by flight also it takes 3hrs. So who will pay this much high?? Even these newly started interstate flights costs 4-5k. So, I believe HSR is better option for India. |

Rushabh, you are young, almost a generation apart! It is admirable that you are interested on infrastructure issues affecting our country at such a young age. Your posts are very informative with superior writings. You may want to encourage more people your age to join this forum. Seriously, people like you give me hopes for the future, and that is the point. CE79, you are right India is behind the curve and there are many issues in making air travel affordable to common man. But America can do it then so can we; and we will as we improve our policies in coming years I’m bullish on India (and USA too)
If you folks are interested I’d suggest you read one article by Arjun on what he thinks about India and China in the link below. Finance is backbone for infrastructure so GIFT is happening, and what could be better than IFLC as the name of company that builds GIFT. http://www.gmo.com/Europe/GMOInsights/ |

Where exactly is this new hospital? SG Highway?
Based on render it's big but doesn't look bigger to Civil, bed-wise. |

It's not branch of civil hospital. They r constructing new building in VS hospital campus only. And it will not be the biggest hospital.. Narayan Hridyalaya is building biggest hospital of Gujarat. It will be 5000 bed hospital.
