Not really. This area has a height limit but I dont think it will go higher than Orion. Though the article on this did mention a residential tower...

But it is part of the Conservation area, I think that's more the problem.

There is no way a tower of more than 12 storeys will be built here, between the Council House & Birmingham Cathedral.

Yeah but at least we will no longer have waste land in the heart of the city, that has always annoyed me

Which is actually a bad thing because the council are usually very supportive of highrises on the central ridge. They seem to only support off-central ridge developments if they will significantly boost the regeneration in the area such as the Pinnacle. But then, I think the council will be supportive of this as they have been so heavily involved in finding a developer.

They need to do the foot bridge up too. This development could be stonking if they're prepared to put their hands in their pockets. Its prime land with good road and rail links. They could also tidy up a couple of the other building around this site eg next to Maxium. Does this deal include the land on the otherside ie where the rough diamond was proposed..?

I think they should do away with the footbridge and sink the Queensway so there is just a local road there and not a trunk road. That is the only proper way to reconnect those parts of town.
Unless they can come up with a large, proper bridge

The old AMEC site was just the land between Ludgate Hill & Livery Street. Does anyone know what if anything is planned for the bit on the hill - between Ludgate Hill and Newhall Street? |

This is the planners preffered route actually but, the cost of sinking the road came in at about £50m, so they dont think its feasible. Its a shame because the result was completely integrating the Jewellery Quarter into the Core.

Whilst I think that is a bit pricey I think it would have had a massive benefit for both the core and JQ. Both of them are separated in some form and rarely do tourists walk from the city centre to the JQ in the same day. There was/ is some massive potential there.
