The first 11 gates have opened. Now that those are open, the old concourse can be demolished and the final 8 gates constructed.

Offsite, the old 1950s sign has been restored and reinstalled as well.

Am I right in thinking they have even put up the old 1960's era sign outside the airport once more?? I love it when the modernisers keep one eye on an airport's history too.

Nice work AA and DFW for getting this done. AA is going to have a heck of a time against Air China in Houston and Korean Air that AA is currently battling it out right now. Those flights are at least a minimal of 14.5 hrs and even longer depending on the time of the year too. Good Luck AA can't wait to see the new livery in HKG!

New Automated Passport Control Kiosks are being installed at DFW Airport. These kiosks are already being used at Chicago O' Hare and JFK Airport.

Quote:
New Kiosks To Reduce Passenger Wait Times at Customs and Border Protection

The DFW Airport Board also approved a three-year contract for thirty-two new Automated Passport Control System kiosks to be used by US citizens arriving at DFW aboard international flights. The kiosks will reduce passenger wait times by decreasing the time required to process each traveler. Unlike the CBP Global Entry Program, the Automated Passport Control System does not require guests to pre-register with CBP. The automated kiosks will help streamline the CBP process, shortening lines and increasing passenger satisfaction. DFW Airport is one of the first airports in the country to introduce the new Automated Passport Control System. The Board approved a contract totaling $188 thousand for the hardware, and DFW Airport’s Information Technology Services team will develop the software. The new system is expected to launch in November.

Yes they are coming to DFW. there is rumors floating around saying that Etihad might be coming to DFW soon. Three is going to be interesting to watch. Wonder who is going to blink. QR or EY because EK will do everything possible to stay in DFW.

I don't really see any likelihood of Ethiads starting service to DFW since you already have Emirates serving the same market. The only cities in North America that both Qatar, Emirates, and Ethiad serve tend to be NYC, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and Toronto and I think that is mainly because of their large population sizes and large immigrant communities. Honestly I don't think there is room for another Gulf carrier to serve the DFW market.

Interesting press release...I didn't realize that Bentonville, AR was in the DFW catchment area. That's a huge area.

It has nothing to do with catchment area....It has to do with the fact that DFW is the largest hub of American Airlines, soon to be the largest airline company in the world which means that Qatar and Etihad (both of which have partnerships with AA) will get all those passengers to transit through the DFW hub...!!!

It's also a lot cheaper to fly out of DFW than it is other airports in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Which is why people don't have a problem driving through terrible traffic to catch a flight.

These three airlines have some serious competition between one another. Hopefully this will bring down airfares enough to be able to afford a first class spot on each of these three airlines.

Has anyone seen Emirates first class cabin? The best I have ever seen in the entire aviation industry.
