Dh34b real estate project launched

ABU DHABI — Danet Abu Dhabi — a landmark real estate project costing Dh34 billion, has been announced in the capital to develop 34 multi-storied commercial and residential towers, green areas, hotels, shopping malls and entertainment facilities.

The project launched by Al Qudra Real Estate, a company wholly owned by Al Qudra Holding will be located on Airport Road in the heart of the capital, spreading over 210,000 square metres. It will create up-scale residential as well as commercial spaces, a sports centre and a fully equipped social centre.

"There would be 34-towers ranging from 15-23 floors as well as a four-star hotel, which will be offered to the UAE nationals and in future may be offered to the GCC nationals," said Engr. Salah Salem bin Omair Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Al Qudra Holding, here yesterday.

"Designed to be one of the region's best-planned communities, utilising the best in global practices and leveraging sophisticated metropolitan design, Danet Abu Dhabi is a welcoming oasis enhanced with a futuristic skyline, with gardens, parks, green boulevards, building, cafes, and leisure facilities," Al Shamsi observed.

Within a five minute drive from the downtown, residents will have access to many leisure and business facilities.

"Parking being one of he major problem that capitals residents suffer daily would be resolved as Denat Abu Dhabi architects have addressed the problem, with all buildings will be having sufficient parking spaces to satisfy residential and commercial requirements," Al Shamsi told reporters.

He said that Danet Abu Dhabi will feature five districts inspired from the different Arabic names for pearls: Jumana, Dorra, Louolou, Giwan, and Gemash. A world class business Holiday Inn Hotel will be built at the posh district.

The project which will come up within three years would be the first development outside the investment zones in the emirate and would not be offered to expatriates.

Earlier, Al Qudra Holding held its first AGM in which shareholders were taken into confidence over future plans of the company. The company earned Dh211 million profit during first 11-month of its formation while assets expanded to Dh1.283 billion. The market value of Dh1 share went up to Dh5 during this period.

The shareholders granted their consent over a recommendation allowing company to offer convertible bonds. They also approved a proposal offering company's shares to expatriates as well as approving with a majority of three-quarters, a proposal regarding the company's conversion into a public joint stock company.

The AGM also gave its approval to a recommendation increasing the capital by Dh50 million to Dh550 million. The shareholders also elected four board members including Khalifa Khouri, Mrs Shamsa Al Kitbi, Salem Al Niyadi, and Mater Al Bayhouni.

5 minutes from downtown? What exactly is considered downtown abu dhabi these days? Plus, what do they mean '5 minutes' ??? lol if they're talking about building all of this on abu dhabi island itself, then they must be slightly retarded, because there's no free space on the island anymore.

Al Qudra Real Estate, a subsidiary of Al Qudra Holding, has launched the construction of its Danet Abu Dhabi project with the starting of underground infrastructure work.

Al Qudra Real Estate has appointed Maunsell Consulting Services to design the project’s infrastructure utilising the expertise of EUDO, an Australian based-company, and Emirates Utilities Company Holding (EUCH) to implement the proposed work that is aimed to be completed by April 2007. The whole project will be completed by early 2009.

“We are delighted with the fast paced progress of Danet Abu Dhabi,” said Eng Salah Bin Omeir Al Shamsi, chairman and managing director, Al Qudra Holding. “We are confident that by appointing Maunsell Consulting Services and EUCH to handle the development, the project will be delivered on time.”

EUCH specialises in the management and execution of BOT projects to support major developments. It handles infrastructure, utilities management, industrial and environmental projects. Maunsell Consulting Services has been operating for more than 40 years in the Middle East undertaking multidisciplinary projects.

The demolition and paving of the project’s foundation have been completed by Task General Contracting and Road Works. Al Habtoor Engineering has been appointed to carry out the water drilling and consolidation activities expected to be completed by November 2006.

As for the construction of Danet Abu Dhabi’s landmark Holiday Inn Hotel, Al Qudra Real estate has appointed Architectural Engineering Consultants (AEC) as the project architect. The spectacular 210-room hotel is scheduled to open in early 2009 and will provide the city with an international-standard hotel fully equipped with restaurants, a health club, swimming pools, meeting rooms and other luxury amenities.

“By establishing a Holiday Inn in Danet Abu Dhabi, we are seeking to attract a greater share of both domestic and international business as well as leisure and meeting travellers,” said Ahmed Al Yafei, general manager, Al Qudra Real Estate.

Al Qudra Real Estate, a subsidiary of Al Qudra Holding announced today the inauguration of construction of the underground infrastructure of Danet Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, has laid the foundation stone for the Dhs34 billion Danat Abu Dhabi real estate development project. "The mega project will be executed by Al Qudra Real Estate Company as part of the strategic development masterplan for Abu Dhabi emirate which was approved by Abu Dhabi Executive Council,'' he said.

Sheikh Mansour added that Abu Dhabi would witness a large scale construction boom which would turn it into a model oasis for investment, progress and prosperity. "The project will be one of the mega real estate developments at Gulf and Arab levels.....it will be completed by October 2009,''he explained.

Danat Abu Dhabi is the maiden real estate venture of Al Qudra and will house 34 towers rising 15 to 23 floors, a four star hotel, a social centre, an spa, and a commercial centre. Sheikh Mansour along with Salah Al Shamsi, Chairman of Al Qudra Company, toured an exhibition for designs of the project.

His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs, was the guest of honour of Eng. Salah Bin Omeir Al Shamsi, Chairman Al Qudra Holding, for the celebration of the ground breaking ceremony for the landmark project of Al Qudra Real Estate, the Danet Abu Dhabi project.

The ground breaking ceremony was held in a luxurious marquis on the site of Danet Abu Dhabi. Images of the project were displayed along with a model of the whole project. HH Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan cut the ribbon marking the official opening of the site and cemented a break as a symbolic gesture.

How far is this up Airport Road from the corniche?! Has to be past the car showrooms over the bridge on Airport Road surely?

on the junction with 31st street close to the Chevrolet/GMC/Renault and Nissan service centres on your left if you are heading out of town

therefore just before the bridge and the toyota/lexus/merc showrooms you are probably referring to

Planet plans to build 5-star hotel

Dubai: Planet Group, a conglomerate of 11 companies, said yesterday that it intends to build a 5-star hotel, furnished apartment and convention centre complex at the total cost of Dh600 million in the Danat area of Abu Dhabi.

The new hotel will have 440 rooms along with a 190-unit apartment complex. The property will be operational in mid-2009. The design of these properties is displayed at the Planet Group stand.

The group currently operates and manages the Arabian Courtyard Hotel & Spa, the unique Orient Guest House, Galaxy Plaza Hotel and Show Biz Pizza Place.

"Dubai's tourism success stems from its unique and plentiful attributes as a destination. The Planet Group strives to assist the city's tourism industry and further augment its important economic and social contribution," said George M. Moussa, Chairman of Planet Group.

Split Tower

Any clue, if the tower has been launched or is still in the planning phase. I could not find any other info, except what's on the Bloom website.
