It should be the 8th or 9th 200m+ proposal in London right?

it looks like a thin version of one of the towers going up at Ground Zero. I like it. I am not crazy of any of the Beetham Towers in England IMO.

I like the Manchester one but the one in London...the first design was ugly as hell...lets hope the next design is a little better.

Here's a couple of different angles on the Blackfrairs model. Didn't manage to get shots of the main large models though as there were sone people having a seemingly important chat in front of it. Couldn't be arsed to wait for them to finish so... here's what I got anyway........

I think this is an early massing model before they went hardcore on facade detail. I like it though!

great one. Looks like the whole tower is wrapped in glass.
I would much rather prefer they concentrate all London'd skyscrapers in one area, instead of spreading them across the city. It would give a much nicer and denser skyline.

London doesnt want a really dense skyline though, if there arent too many buildings in one place then all of them can be appreciated without detracting from the others

I think the opposite - it's better to have several clusters spread around the city. London isn't an American city with one big central CBD. Instead it has several, like a series of interlinked "towns". Anyway, I think it gives a better sense of scale and perspective; you appreciate London's vast expanse more when they're spread apart.

I doubt the Wilkinson Eyre tower gets built. Looks like the Beetham Tower next door (the tallest building in the picture) got cancelled in favour of an old - much lower - scheme aswell.

I don't think this is the proper area for 200 metre skyscrapers. So I'm glad this one gut dumped. Now I'm waiting for the WE tower to get scaled back aswell. From what I can see in the photos it's not particularly good anyway.

It has been confirmed that it hasnt been cancelled at all. Beetham is just going to use the Foster's scheme as a threat if the tower doesnt get pp. Hopefully there is nothing to worry about.

I think the WE eyre tower is just what we need more of in London. Less Wacky designs. The designs we have right now are excellent, but too many wacky designs will start detracting from each other, and the clusters will start looking like a group of attention seeking towers. Towers like this one are needed to balance it out, a kind of tower like you would find in Canary Wharf or La Defense, not exactly bland or boring, but it doesnt shout look at me, are we need some more of that.

I completely and utterly agree. It's a shame more people on the UK forum don't share the same view...

We would be sorry if we had nothing but out-of-this-world designs. Imagine 20 fenchurch streets and Leadenhall buildings all over the city! I think the main cluster could do with some more Herons, I am looking forward to seeing how the Allies and Morrison tower turns out in a couple of weeks.

Exactly. A tower doesn't have to be flashy or outrageous to be considered a "good design".

There both excellent towers for London. I think the Beetham tower in Manchester is an excellent design i stood under the building and it is really huge it can be seen from miles around.

I didn't say the project has been totally cancelled. I just said the particular design was dumped in favour of a smaller scheme. beetham knows it won't get pp, thats why they moved that way. to think they're doing it just as a threat is ridiculous. this is not a kindergarten. it's just wishful thinking. I don't like the foster scheme either. but atleast the scale is more appropriate for the area.
