Can you imagine what it will be like for the construction workers when the height gets to 600-700+! They best not be scared of heights!!!

Does anyone know that due to the huge height, will construction be any different to say how Tapei 101 or Petronas Towers were built?

Stopped in Dubai last year for 4 days for my honeymoon and have to say that it was an awesome place. My hotel was just outside the two twin blue buildings by Jumeriah Beach were they are constructing 40+ towers! It looked totally crazy! Will def go again to see the Burj Dubai and others! Knowing Dubai they prob have something even taller planned

Nothing can be said about the exact height since we dont know what the roof feature is going to look like exactly.. there have been so many redesigns.. so let's just leave the height as 800m+ ... and hope that Abbar's comment "950m max height is possible" is true!

I never supported 705m, but a 728.6m/2,390 foot figure claimed an official of BeSix. That was an oddly precise number and it came from someone directly linked to the day to day operations of the plannning process. It certainly wasn't a random number pulled out of my ass like some people around here do all the time. It was never a perfect source, but it was the only reasonable one out there.

In time, starting about 3 months ago, other figures started leaking out. Doka posted its 810m figure. Quoting that, I even had SSP change its database and rendered my model as the new BD diagram, which you can still see. That model was 808 meters tall, except the version for SSP which was 810 because that was the only source and at SSP you have to stick to the posted number.

In the past month Arabtec has posted a diagram, seen below, which says BD will be 300m taller than Taipei 101 and anoddly not rounded number that says it will be 356m taller than petronas.

508+300=808
452+356=808

In the past week other sources have been comming up also pointing to 808m/2,650 ft. Yesterday Slugbulch at SSP posted a bunch of information. I'm not sure how legit it is, but it is extremely well researched. It's either true, or someone has done a lot of calculations like I have.

Burj Dubai=2,650ft=807.9m

The highest occuppied floor is around 610m. 625 is the first setback within the spire and may or may not be a roof over a mecanical floor. There will be no occuppied space above 700m, as the structure as far, far too thin at that level. When I'm done with my model I'll post the heights.

everybody listen to STR. at least he is a reliable source.
thanks for info STR. what ever the burjs height, it will be considerably taller then current worlds tallest. We should just sit back and be priviledged to watch this edifice grow skywards.
yes time for updates!

That Arabetc picture makes Petronas and Taipei look tiny!!!
808m sounds like a very good height for this so they can say "it's over 1/2 a mile high". Seems like a great milestone. I didn't note initially hat as a mile is 1609m it's just pass the 1/2 mile mark.
I'd be "slightly" dissapointed myself if the building had nothing in the top 180m (620-808m) apart from some floors of communication equipment.
If you look at that Arabtec diagram the building seems quite wide still between the heights of 600-680m (aprox). I think there's a slight difference in the 2 designs of the taller version of the tower - one has a 100m thin spire, another has a thinner tip but higher setbacks.
Also in that floorplan diagram that's been repeatedly posted there's floorplans of floors where the floor area is THINNER than the buildings concrete core - so indicating there must be floors above the concrete core... the question is how many... if there's only 4 floors then that's the 160 number... I'm hoping for at least 20 more :-)
I don't think there would be a render of a lift number for 189 if they had NO plans for 180+ floors.

Article - not sure if I've seen this one posted... the picture in the article is >2 weeks old but gives a good comparison of the construction. It also mentions >750metres and that only 25% (floor 50) of 200 HABITABLE floors!?
I'm curious where this 200 number has come from!? That's more than the 189 figure people have mentioned here. Also the 35,000 residents is undoubtedly wrong. There'll only be a few 1000 residents, a few 1000 businesspeople and 1000 in the hotel max at a rough guess.
