The building across the street from the Generator
I was just wondering, does anyone know whats going on with the Hanover House redevelopment? I think it looks like a really nice design, and i've been trying to find out more, but i can't find anything.

I was just thinking. Thats gonna be a bit of a landmark. It's 72 metre isnt it? That's just a bit less that the arts tower.
I was on the tram back from work, and you get some good views across the city, and i was thinking it's gonna look lots different with the City lofts tower and Weston tower 'n' that. |

That's true - I was thnking that the other week. Sheffield's hills really make the landscape look great, and with strategically placed high buildings, it will look awesome from the tram. Yes, this will be a fantastic gateway bulding, if it ever gets underway...

Hanover House
Whilst having a browse through this application I noticed Hanover House appearing in the background. Although the application concerned a different project it did feature Hanover House as well. Is Axis Architecture behind both schemes?

That development in the renders is a residential block with some link to Pinders Stationary which is on the main road just in front of it. Not sure of the details but there is a thread on it somewhere.
My understanding is Hanover House is technically under construction though obviously very little is going on at the moment. Imagine this and the new Velocity tower! With the offices completed a few years back, the office block current UC, Wards Brewery and not to mention good ol' Hanover tower block across the road this area is really bulking up.

On the subject of the tower though, I hope it goes ahead, as it needs something vibrant down there. They should really re-clad the sub-station next door or something though to make it blend in with a more modern city - that just looks ugly and always has - and on such a prominent location. |

But its beauty lies in its ugliness - I think there's a german word that sums it up. I want to say Shaudenfraude, but I know it's not that.
Anyway, this building should stay as is, as it's a blank canvas waiting for some interesting artwork/lighting scheme. I want to see it lit up pink - I like the playfulness of mixing brutality and campness. |

I walked past the site yesterday and to register a protest at the lack of action on site, posted the remainder of my southern fried chicken carcass through the fence. Power to the people.
There is a small chance I'd drank a bit too much, but I wouldn't like to say. |

Anyone know any inside info about the progress of this? I've not noticed anything from the bus.

Unfortunately i'm sceptical of this ever happening. Although even if it never get's built, it could lead to something else tall getting built on the site.

Certainly a major worry paulmat - lets face it, this has been around nearly as long as the old Eclipse plans across the road.

When the Public Access site decides to work (http://planning.sheffield.gov.uk/pub.../dc_home.aspx), someone find the name of the applicant/agent and email them DEMANDING a response!
