How diverse is your city?

As a minority in the Midwest, I can say that the words "diversity" and "Midwest" dont really go together, but there are nice pockets scattered about in the various urban areas.

My high school in Oshkosh, WI is about 18 percent asian, due to the very high hmong population. Cities like Appleton, Sheboygan, and parts of Madison are very similar. For some reason none of them really chose Milwaukee though.

I believe using the term "Mexican" to describe your Hispanic population, would be similiar to calling all Asians "Chinese".

I'm sure you are aware that there are Hispanic people from many countries, not just Mexico.

wisconsin has the largest hmong population in the U.S. Though madison, wi isnt very diverse the school district is 44% minority

According to the 2000 census, California has the most Hmongs, followed by Minnesota, then Wisconsin. The Twin Cities has the biggest concentration in one area in the country.

According to Wikipedia:

The racial makeup of the city is 70.15% white, 4.33% black or African-American, 2.27% Native American, 2.46% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, 16.85% from other races, and 3.79% from two or more races. 35.72% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Tucson is somewhat divided when you think about the demographics. According to the official statistics, you can see that whites hold a clear majority here. There aren't that many black people, and the number of Native Americans is slowly reducing. However, the Asian populations has been growing at a fair rate.

I'm not that familiar with the number of Middle Easterners, but I think there's at least a good 5 thousand of them.

To tell you the honest truth, I don't think people get along as much as I'd like them to. A lot of Mexicans aren't too friendly to the white population, and I'm sure there's some sort of foolish bragging about this and that that the richer (white) kids have.

Especially after all these protests have occured, I'm sure tensions have risen.

Mplsuptown, you i'gnant foo...not only is New Richmond 98.1 % white (2000 Census), but your median income is 6,000$ higher than the national average, so you ought to be thanking those money-grubbing Republicans
