A final comment- I, along with many others, would have favoured a gradual Argentinian takeover of the Islands many years ago, but Galtieri spoiled the progress made, by resorting to violence, and now no Falklander will countenence the idea.

If you were talking about the post WWII period then, yes the US did help, as it did for all of Europe with the Marshall plan.

The UK economic upturn since the 1980s though has nothing to do with US help and everything to do with internal reform in the UK.

But hey, this could be a great opportunity for stealing more land. You could disguise some British Petroleum executives, with feathers and spears. You would put them in Patagonia, secretly. Later, they could say “We, the tehuelches, claim .....”

oh right, you killed them all didn't you... maybe you missed the point i was trying to raise though, that argentina was founded by colonial imperialists just like british rule on the falklands islands. one difference though, no-one lived in the falklands when we went there.

perhaps now you'll see how ridiculous it is to tell falklanders to go "back home" to england when they have established lives there over generations. it's as ridiculous as telling all the argies to pack their bags and move to europe.
