No doubt I love them too, but just wondering why are we(assuming you and me are not the only ones ) so fascinated about them? Those mysterious trees are a mystery to me.

hey guyz.. i'm an avid photographer and have been lurking in this thread for days now. It's so fortunate that forumers here are so skilled when it comes to photography and all and that's just what inspires me. Best of all, this is all about LA! One of the best places in America where I'd like to live in.
Anyway, what do you think of the pic below in terms of angle, lighting, perspective..?

credit goes to Fundraiser

usually a good pic or painting has a distinct foreground, midground, and background. this seems to have a foreground that's not close enough, an ok midground, and no background. also, if the trees are the foreground, they cover up to much of the midground. it probably needs to act more as a frame instead of the focus (i did ace that class 2 quarters ago).

I often go to downtown LA but have a really hard time finding good spots to take pics from. I don't wanna take pictures that everyone's already seen a million times, I wanna capture LA from angles rarely seen but fuck its hard to find good spots in donwtown to do that from. No buildings will give you access to rooftops. My last photo thread were pics taken from the City hall observation deck so thats been done. Does anyone here have any suggestions or know of any places in downtown to snap some good pictures of the city. Done the Griffith Park, Mullholland, and Getty Center so forget about those. I'm talking about spots right in downtown or surrounding hoods.

not sure what its called but there is a sweet look out point from the mountain park near dodgers stadium in east la. i was going to go there and snap some pics but was discouraged by a couple making out on a park bench... no need to interrupt that. oh and the random gun fire.

I like those pics with a lot of zoom from the USC area looking north towards dowtown; I like how Figueroa street goes through theheart of LA.
