I have never been to KKIA or Kuching Airport. But, I can say that Bayan Lepas International Airport is the best after KLIA... judging the departure hall, shopping, design and air craft traffic.

penang airport is a bit cramped...especially at the entrance for departure hall(with the retails and fnb outlet there) and the check in area..bit space constrained.....but i like the departure hall inside..it has this Changi feel to it....though i never like the ceiling with the 'ocean' deco...

yupe..the ocean ceiling is not suite to Penang Airport...i think they should come out a better design which represent Penang...The ocea design give me a feeling like, the penang sea is something like Langkawi or mayb better than that

i like the ocean theme actually. however, i think the deisgn of the interior is contradicting with its exterior. the ocean design itself is ok to me (except for the pictures of the ocean, which i think should be replaced with real aquariums he he...)

AirAsia gets LCCT nod from Penang
Sunday April 22, 2007 TheStar PENANG: AirAsia can set up and operate a Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) here. Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said the state had approved in principle the LCCT to be located on a piece of land near the Penang International Airport in Bayan Lepas. “The land belongs to the state but has been used by the Federal Government since before Independence, so we also need to get Federal approval,'' he said. It was learnt the LCCT is to be located on a 36ha piece of land. AirAsia is the only airline to have applied to operate a LCCT, Dr Koh told reporters at the state-level World Water Day 2007 commemoration at the Penang Botanic Gardens yesterday. Dr Koh was commenting on a statement by State Tourism and Environment committee chairman Teng Chang Yeow who said the state had agreed for a plot of land near the Penang International Airport to be turned into an LCCT. |

im a penangite and i feel that paklah neglected his homestate. what do u think??
johor bahru got so much during the last RMK 9 yet penang only got monorail and second link. i think paklah should contribute more to his homestate during his tenure in office. after this najib naik, how come penang will get government's money on infra project??? and i also think koh tsu koon is too slow to press paklah regarding penang's matter. johor mentri besar always press the old man and what u see?? almost all project goes to Iskandar development region. im a pilot, and i think they should lengthen the runway to a full 4000 meters. like those 2 at KLIA. and replace the asphalt with concrete runway. less cracks, more reliable and less maintainence. build new terminal laa please. although the one penang got is much better than JHB but i think it's the time to replace with newer, modern terminal. please la paklah do something. we've been suffering so much with less and less money from federal government after tan sri eu resign (chief minister before dr koh)..yet when he's in the office he did almost nothing for his home state. what a disappointment. after much persuading only after that bastard samy vellu agreed to build second link. honest opinion. JHB passenger terminal is worse, smaller than the one we got in bayan lepas. please speed up new LCCT in PEN so that we can get more tourists to support local economy because fed government has been overlooking penang. we've limped on since on our own. I LOVE PENANG |

hi there, ssangyongs!! welcome to the forum!!
so you are a Penangite and also a pinoy?? well, i can't say that Pak Lah did nothing for Penang. i believe if it's not for him, the 2nd link and monorail might not even be approved right now. however i agree that he has to do more than that in order to really get those projects ready on time

I should say Pak Lah has actually given a lot of presents to Penang.. or rather priorities... of course as a PM and Penangnite as well... you cannot give everything to Penang since it is your hometown... he has to consider the development of whole Malaysia... especially when Johor can bring development to Malaysia... What I can say is... the State Government should start to be more proactive in completing the projects given and fight for more development for Penang... What is the point if PM gives everything to Penang but the local government does not know how to run the project effectively?

PIA reminds me of NAIA (ninoy aquino international airport) terminal 1. I was shocked when i first went through PIA because if it's not better than PIA, then it's comparable. Minus NAIA has slightly bigger floor area. Penangites should be grateful to have a nice PIA (from interior side) BUT i think we should have done better.
KKIA got billions to expand the current terminal, runway extension and a new terminal. Senai Airport well, the terminal is nice, but i think it's underserved. Modern terminal it is, it's better to build the new one for Penang. I do believe that Pak Lah works hard for Penang but i think he should do more. It's been more than a year since he announced RMK 9. All i read in newspaper is IDR IDR IDR I grew bored of this. Maybe he should do that because it's him who cancelled the crooked bridge. So he has to give something to Johoreans. I hope Koh Tsu Koon will become Cabinet Minister, let's get a new Chief Minister that will strive hard for Penang, just like what Ghani Othman did for Johor. I think with only one runway, taking into consideration growing air traffic at Penang now, in 15 years time we gotta find a new land to build airport, or else, Penang International = Kai Tak I was born and bred here, spend primary school years in Philippines, Secondary School in Kulim, bachelor degree in Selangor, and probably master's degree in Phils. again. |
