Was there any purpose/function to the Skylon, or was it a standard sculpture (i.e. one that doesn't move/do anything)?

On a related note, have you guys heard about London Oasis? It's a superb piece of art/engineering/landscaping! Looking forward to visiting it this weekend

Yeah i walked past it,interesting...

I love the skylon, it should never have been demolished, nor should the best of the festival in fact.

It would indeed U.K. By the way yes there are official threads you could be posting in, but I admire your enthusiasm, so keep doing what your doing here. ( Some of us older forumers have become a bit more jaded ).

Its a bit of a wounder after reading this thread that Birmingham is behind Manchester in Skyscraper height's? But its worth pointing out the new building the cube will be one of the msot ikonic buildings in the UK check this out > www.thecube.co.uk also the selfridges building is the 3rd most photograped building in the uk too so Maybe its not so like behind Manchester after all?

Rumours going around the manchester forum of 2 60 story towers and 1 80 story tower. 1 of the 60 story towers is likely to be Inacity Tower which is approved and starts next year at almost 190m, the 80 story tower coud be 250m+
