My interpretation of the Amsterdam tram network. Instead of assigning to each line its own color, I have chosen to give the main routes a single color, as is done with the New York Subway system, for example. I believe this conflation of lines makes the map easier to read; it would especially help to determine what trams can be boarded to reach a destination along a major main route.
Apart from the most recent service changes (something that happens every 1/2 year or so), this map also shows the new tram line 26 (IJtram) and the extension of line 16, to be in effect from May 2005 onwards:

i added munich. it easily enters the top ten:

METRO:

1. London: 408 km

Washington: 164,5 km

COMMUTER RAIL IN UE:

1. Berlin: 3.107 km
2. Wien: 1.576 km
3. Frankfurt: 1500 km
4. Paris: 1401 km
5. London: 788 km
6. Zurich: 660 km
7. Prage: 639
8. Barcelona: 546 km
9. Munchen: 442 km (S-Bahn only)
10. Madrid: 320 km

TRAMS/LRT IN UE:

1. Berlin: 303 km
2. Wien: 183 km
3. Prage: 137 km

Once again, as this was mentioned earlier in the thread. The Berlin figure is for the entire State of Brandenburg which covers 30,000km˛. This is not the commuter or metropolitan area of the city.

Also, The figure for London, only includes the city proper of London, not even the suburbs directly joining in the urban area, let alone the commuter belt or metro area. The London commuter network known previously known as Network Southeast has between 3,600km and 4,500km of route commuter rail. The 788km is ONLY the city proper.
