I was just about to say that it looks very 70's

I think it has something to do with the stations being represented by black dots, rather than little dashes like on other maps. The line colours are very pastel as well, which adds to the retro feel.

Really.
This year, all the maps into trains have been changed many times. Just look at them:

It's not as bad as the LU map which just looks like a load of spaghetti.

Well, all those changes in a year... It's a graphic design Mardi Grass.

Yes, like dugommier said, it's the same M but adding a wedding invitation font with the word "metro". Very improper for these kind of thing.

And, more important: a circle.
I think the high-tech ambience of the metro and the playfulness of the font make for an interesting contrast.

So they're not exactly metro's, but here's the maps for a few s-bahn type systems in Australia's main cities - aka 'The Big 5'.

They're all from http://www.railmaps.com.au - excuse the size.

Sydney >

Melbourne >

Brisbane >

Perth >

My (two-year-old) not-asking-too-much wished combos of metro, LRT and S-bahn services in and around Montréal.

Inner Montréal, revealing (low?) service frequencies -- route striping signifies burrowed S-bahn:

Instead of double-tracking my downtown extension of the Yellow Line shaped like a tight hook, single-tracking it into a loop, such that it terminate back at its rightmost junction before reversing to duck under the riverbed, would afford downtown similar service at less of a cost.

Montréal region in two scales:

Lastly, I mistook dismantled rights of ways revealed on various maps to be tracked before narrowing down the map above to this one:

OPENED ON JUNE 2.008 !!!

Maybe the most recent network around the world!!!

It is not a subway, but a commuter train that joins two towns with a city. There are three stations on the city and there will be a fourth one in some years.

http://www.renfe.es/cercanias/zaragoza/mapa_zonas.html

It is the railway network of Zaragoza (Aragon - Spain), with a 16 km. line. All traject down town is underground.

Timetables and more information at http://www.renfe.es/cercanias/zaragoza/index.html

I don't know if this has already been posted here, but on this link you can see a kind of dimensional comparison between some of the world's subways. Enjoy!
