Yekaterinburg official map

Really, it's a replica by a Wikipedia user

Previews of official (schematic) maps now also appear on every city page at Metrobits. Where both the official map and the cityrailtransit.com map are available, they appear side by side, which allows to compare the schematic style with the real thing.

Like with Caracas,

Singapore,

Istanbul,

and many other cities.

Nice work, micro!

I like the idea of comparing the official, schematic network maps to the geographically accurate maps. Some maps really show the distortion in geography, like Singapore's. Others seem to be much more conservative, like Istanbul's.

Edit: what happened to the thumbs-up smiley?

Thanks, Alargule. I also thought these comparisons are nice, so I made a new page that contrasts both kinds of maps for all metro systems for which both kinds are available, currently 66. Here it is: Comparing Maps.

The maps project at Metrobits is now complete. After adding or updating another dozen schematic maps (Chiba, Chengdu, Fukuoka, Hanover, Nanjing, Rome, Sofia, Stuttgart, Tama, The Hague, Turin, Wuhan), the vast majority of city pages now have at least one map, either an official one or one by cityrailtransit.com.

But of course it doesn't mean there won't be updates to the maps in the future. And a few maps were impossible to find and are still missing: Cairo, Dalian, Dnepropetrovsk, Kazan, Kryvyi Rih, Nizhny Novgorod, Poznan, Tashkent, Volgograd, Warsaw, Yekaterinburg.

The four maps pages:
Schematic Maps main page
All Schematic maps -- sorted alphabetically
All Schematic maps -- sorted by number of stations
Comparing Maps -- schematic vs. to-scale

Navigation between these four pages has been made easier.

ZARAGOZA TRAM AND COMMUTER TRAIN MAPS

Zaragoza has got since April 2011 a tram line (it had tram 40 years before, but the tram lines were changed to buses)

→ Now on service (line 1)
-- → On construction (line 1)
-- → Project (lines 2 & 3)

It also has a commuter line since 2008

It's also a new station (now it is on construction) between Portillo and Miraflores. Its name is Goya and it has transfer with tram in the stop that is in red in the tram map.

What do you think of the page? How can it be improved and can I run into copyright problems? People say copyrights of maps are a serious thing but on the other hand, showing only thumbnails with a copyright note and a link to the original map should be okay.

The Sao Paulo official schematic map has just been updated to include the two new Line 4 stations, fundamentally altering the city's relationship with the metro:

it's kinda weird how complicated seems the line 4 now on this map. They could maka an afford and simplified it... let's hope, they will do that in the next edition

Yes, given that line 4 is basically a straight diagonal line in reality, but this map is a poor adaptation of an older layout and they just shoved line 4 in, distorting it.....

Whenever I tried that link it was broken, as well as the official website's home page metro.sp.gov.br. Did it move?

Here it's working. Maybe there's a DNS translation problem.
