LAHORE, Punjab -- Punjab CM, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, has accorded approval to the design of Software Information Technology Park and announced that modern IT facilities would be made available in the park, which will be completed at a cost of Rs 1.5 billion in a period of one-year.

He disclosed this while presiding over a high-level meeting regarding implementation of Software Information Technology Park Project here on Friday. Representatives of Jurang International Singapore were also present.

Chief Secretary Punjab, Salman Siddique, Chairman P&D Suleman Ghani, Chairman Information Technology Board Rizwan Amin Sheikh, head of Project Management Unit of P&D Khalid Ahmad Khan, General Manager Information Technology Board Asad Gillani and other senior officials also attended the meeting.

The Chief Minister said that Software Technology Park, over an area of 32 kanals on Ferozepur Road, would be completed in about a year. He said this project would generate 10,000 direct and a large number of indirect job opportunities besides promoting international trade.

"This gigantic project would ensure a prominent place for Punjab Information Technology at the global level. This project would strengthen international IT contacts, create economic activities to the tune of Rs 5.5 billion as well as attract local and foreign investment," he added.

The Punjab chief secretary said that master planning and construction management of this project would be in accordance with international standards.

The Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board said that Jurang International of Singapore has completed a number of international projects in IT sector. Call centres and business process centres would also be established in the park, he added.

Click the 'Post Reply' button. You are directed to a new page with a text box in the middle where you can write your reply. Just above that text box is a button ...if you take the mouse over it (WITHOUT CLICKING) then it shows the words 'Insert Image'. Click that button and then put the path of the image into the user prompt which pops up.
Make sure the picture is available on the internet and is not on your hard disk.
You can use services like www.photobucket.com to upload pictures there and then link them to forums using the procedure I mentioned above.

Man who cares about how many storeys it has, what's the point of building 80 story skycrapers in the middle of nowhere when you don't need them? They cheapen the land value and ruin the landscape unless they're complimented by other similar sized buildings.

Thank you Red_Arrow.. it says WiMax in the ad, so I'm hoping this mean all of Lahore will be getting the WiMax network that Islamabad is getting?

Warid will implement country wide WiMAX (802.16e standard) with Motorola as equipment supplier. It's not specific to just Islamabad.
