Its good to know that developments are starting to spread over the country such as Cebu. I can see the potential in Cebu city at the present rate of spending on these infrastructure project! Impressive!

yup, and our government is selling Cebu to the investors as they say that Cebu has a very high potential to become an important city in the future so they should start spending for the infrastractures here in Cebu specially the road networks... but anyway in the long run, all Filipinos will benefit in this process.

i hope they would try to improve there sidewalks and make it lively like the boardwalk in manila..

preparations for the ASEAN Summit will start this month and part of it is to widen/rehabilitate most of the roads in the metro (lapu-lapu, mandaue, cebu)..

so far this will be the biggest event ever hosted by cebu so im sure our roads here including of course the sidewalks will be greatly improved..

As to my knowledge, here is the situation:

Generally fine during regular hours, but at rush hours,

1. gridlocks sometimes occur in major thoroughfares such as mango ave, jones ave, escario-gorrordo junction, and in the downtown area.

2. from the city going south, its okay thanks to the south coastal road. but sometimes it turns bad after the SC road closes at 6 pm.

3. from the city going north, heavy in the highway-mandaue area.

One thing is certain, the cars are expanding in number but the roads are not. But hopefully they will widen some roads for the asean summit.

And this is the north bus terminal. not a recent pic. just lifted it from the net.

Okey. You're not from cebu? What's your thesis all about?

The Maxilom Avenue: traffic in the area is smooth during regular hours but bumper-to-bumpers can occur during peaks at noon and late afternun mostly due to the cars that will be parking in front of St. Theresa's College and the Sacred Heart School.

The Osmena Blvd: traffic is also generally smooth except during peaks. The build-up of cars usually starts in front of the capitol area towards escario st. A contributing factor would be the jeepneys that loads and unloads in the area in front Cebu Doctor's Hospital. The other end of Osmena blvd is the exit to the downtown area.

The Maxilom ave corner Osmena blvd is essentially the Fuente Osmena area. Traffic is also generally okay except during rushhour where the volume of cars going to maxilom ave and ramos st [also found on the same corner] increases.

Street signs are okay as well as the traffic lights. Traffic police [CITOM] have their permanent posts throughout.

sure no problem.

yeah cebu is THE biggest exporter of furnitures. the fuente osmena area will surely be an ideal place for a furniture expo because it is the focal point of gatherings and events here. so do you already have the exact location for this? will this be a permanent expo or for a time being only?

hmm.. i'm looking at osmena cor. maxilom... from the map its in the same lot as the north jeepney terminal in the port center... its going to be solely for furnitures, having permanent displays and also be able to host annual events like cebu x... i also plan to include a design center, industry information center and the also house the CFIF offices... from the pictures in this thread looks like cebu would be an exciting place to visit... thanks again!

but the north jeepney terminal is nowhere near the osmena blvd-maxilom ave junction. the terminal is located in the north reclamation area. and i'll tell you, you dont wanna put your expo there. better have it in the cebu business park...

i dont know if this map is the latest.. maybe the marker on the location of the n.jeepney terminal is wrong... i hope... its indicated here that the corner of maxilom and osmena is somewhere near pier 4... do you know the exact location of the terminal? i mean the streets?

hmmm... i think we're not on the same page here... i think you are pertaining to the north bus terminal, which is in mandaue according to the map... there is a north jeepney terminal here and is close to tejeros... or is there such a jeepney terminal...

maybe you mean the jeepney terminal beside the burnt White Gold... that area of cor Maxilom st and Sergio Osmeña formerly (Mc Arthur Blvd) is very busy during peaks

here's the Sergio Osmeña ave.

the corner of Gen. Maxilom ave. is just @ the next junction behind this vehicle that I was riding when I took this pic.

Oh so your refering to sergio osmena street, not osmena blvd. yeah as what slerz said the area of the burnt old white gold clud. yeah it has a jeepney terminal there. but i dont know if its a good site for a furniture expo. not much business is going on there after the the incident at white gold.

yeah, not much big establishments are situated in that area... "busy" just because of the high volume of traffic passing in that area but not "busy" interms of business climate in the area...

Wow... it's either Cebu got a LOT nicer since summer 2004, or the infastructure is actually a LOT worse to drive on and looks worse in real life rather than pictures.
