well its not really worse. there are just some areas that are kinda neglected. but the general scenario is that business is getting better. the local government are just handling things one at time. you'll see that this year, roads will be widened for sure and a new fly-over will be constructed. so its not bad at all. just like this new one at the cebu business park:

That's good news architect.. Actually, the CITEC or Cebu Trade and Exhibition Center was sighted as a permanent exposition center for trade shows like furniture shows. One of the proponents of the said exhibition center is the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The association of furniture exporters here in Cebu were also behind the said project.

Right now the project has not been realized probably due to funding. And the site where it's supposed to be built has now been eyed for the Cebu International Convention Center (formerly Megadome) for the upcoming ASEAN Summit..

If your planning to build a furniture exposition center, the most ideal place would be Mandaue Recla where the CICC would be built, or along Sergio Osmeña Avenue (Cebu's version of Roxas Blvd.) at the North Reclamation Area, or bettery yet at the South Road Properties..

actually white gold is the "Ayala Center of Cebu" before huge malls were built and is one of the important and social shopping center here in Cebu but after SM was built last 1992, the sales of White Gold dramatically decreased and also bec of it's proximity to SM City Cebu but last 1997, the mall was burned for about 4 to 5 days... that's why the area is less vibrant today than before.

This is not a picture, this is the road from downtown Cebu City going to souhtern Cebu. This road is quite bad to very bad and is not given much attention coz tourists seldom frequent or pass this area coz the airport and most of the city's spots are located in the northern part of Metro Cebu. I hope this road will be paved in time for the ASEAN summit.

Another White Gold rose nearby. It's right in front of Queen City Memorial Gardens. It's a smaller version though, and more of like a warehouse type department store and supermarket.

Talisay-Naga road finally completed

After a six-month delay, the four-lane 11-kilometer stretch from Talisay City to Naga is finally completed, the Department of Public Works and Highways said.

Jose Bustamante of the Project Monitoring Office of the DPWH said that the road, a component of the Cebu South Road Improvement Project (CSRIP) under package one, was declared as ?substantially completed? last Dec. 10 after three deadline extensions.

With the completion of package one and package two, the 18-kilometer road from Naga to Carcar that was completed last September, the DPWH issued to project contractor Aboitiz Construction Group Inc.-Kumagai Gumi Co. a taking over certificate with minor deficiencies.

The certificate, according to Bustamante, gives the contractor a defects liability period or one year to do minor repairs on the P785.15-million undertaking.

Inspection

Representatives from the DPWH Central Office, DPWH 7, consultants and the contractor will inspect the project again by November or December this year before the contractor could turn over the project to DPWH, Bustamante said.

Repairs include the asphalting of cracked or damaged portions of the road during in the next 12 months, he added.

The condition of the road caught the attention of President Gloria Arroyo in July last year that she ordered the faster completion of the road repair, which was delayed by 50 percent by then.

Problems

Arroyo?s maternal grandfather, Juan Macaraig, first built the road when he served as district engineer of Cebu.

CSRIP?s package one, which was delayed due to road-right-of-way acquisition problems, utilities transfer and late payments, was completed just last December.

The infrastructure development committee of the Regional Development Council 7 had expressed apprehension that it could be completed in November, as reportedly promised by the contractor.

Bustamante said the contractor will be fined for the delays in the form of deductions to the original contract price.

However, he said the DPWH Central Office is determining the deductions based on the technical reports.
