Interesting news with respect to this development.

The cladding material will be different from what you typically find, which is glass, metal or concrete precast. The material itself will be unique, as well as the colour.

There are all kinds of new products being used all over the world, like various options in ceramic and clay. We're exploring the possibilities right now. In most high rise condos the colour comes from the glass, whether it be green, blue or grey. We're going to shift the focus to the cladding, which is usually just an accent. Colour is a huge part of this design.

I count 53 floors on that 'Rosedale on Bloor' proposal. It's just short enough that there shouldn't be any shadowing concerns in Rosedale itself. This looks to be ~180m. I wonder if the Mink Mile will ever expand east to Sherbourne. Church is about as far east as it currently goes.

I was really worried that they were going to destroy the laneway. I love that alley and assumed Toronto would never recognize how wonderful it is.

This made me very happy. Looks like Toronto will get a funky pedestrian only retail strip after all. Melbourne and London have them, now we will too. How cool is this! Hopefully, the other laneways in downtown Toronto will get the same treatment instead of being destroyed.

Retaining the historic laneway, renovating it, and the encouragement of retail

That's a very charming and historic laneway. I believe one of Toronto's first gay bars, the Club Manatee was located in the building on the east side of the laneway fronting St. Joseph Street.

^ That base in the last image is beyond astonishing!!! It uses the type of columns created by Frank Lloyd Wright for his Jackson Wax Headquarters while simultaneously responding to the street and using a clean ultramodern design.
