That's Queen St. East. This should be a game changer for the whole area along with the three-tower Queen and Sherbourne proposal.

88 Queens will be what ... the second or third completely foreign capital-based condo in Toronto now?

What a gorgeous building. Here are some more proposals. A couple might have been posted before but not sure:

33 Gerrard redevelopment reduced to 3 towers but with heights increased to 50, 75, and 86 storeys, and design revised to add a park.

Beautiful. Simple, elegant. No green glass.

The terraced building two posts above is also stunning.

Also, it looks like a huge revitalization of Grange Park next to the OCAD U building is about to proceed. I'll try to post updates on that when it starts.

I've been following Toronto developments for many years and the pace of change is relentless. As spoiled as we've been I still feel like there's much work to be done before the downtown starts to feel built out. Yonge in 2025 will be unrecognizable to those who last saw it in the 1990s.

YES! Finally, something for that Courtyard Marriott. The structure underneath one of the existing buildings on the site has some architectural and historical value (if only contextual) but I'll be happy to see that clunker go, now that the Wasaga Strip is gone and under development.

Wasaga strip? I've never heard it called that but it was a fitting moniker. It's shocking that it remained as it was this long.

One Bloor East looking from East End Danforth looks like it might be 85 floors not 75, is that correct? Glad to see calibre of design innovation really improving. The market is strong but developers will have to work harder to attract clients with design and amenities.

Interesting news with respect to this development.

The cladding material will be different from what you typically find, which is glass, metal or concrete precast. The material itself will be unique, as well as the colour.

There are all kinds of new products being used all over the world, like various options in ceramic and clay. We're exploring the possibilities right now. In most high rise condos the colour comes from the glass, whether it be green, blue or grey. We're going to shift the focus to the cladding, which is usually just an accent. Colour is a huge part of this design.

There's still so many lots and functionally obsolete buildings to work with, too. That's the nuts part.

The entire downtown is basically being re-built from the ground up block by block. Only a few significant buildings like large office towers and historic buildings are being left untouched. Smaller historic structures deemed of value are being torn down with just historic facades facing the street re-built as a nod to the past.

The city that emerges will be vastly different to the one that once stood here. We're really watching the construction of Canada's first true metropolis. It's a massive work in progress. The number of 150m+ buildings is set to go from 43 to 137 if all the proposals are realized. That's a tripling of the skyline in just 5-6 years.

There's a lot of money to be made so the competition is fierce. Developers are upping their game to attract buyers. The quality of designs gets better each passing year.

One Bloor is 76 floors. The podium floors have very high ceilings.

There are very few parking lots left. Back in the mid-90s literally half of downtown was parking lots and now there's maybe ten in the core if I had to guess. Twenty years ago it was probably 40.
