Visited Tuborg Havn today located in the norther part of Copenhagen ( Hellerup ) where the suburbs starts..
It's a nice mix of commercial buildings and residential ones and home to some of the most interesting architecture in the city..

It used to be home to Tuborg Brewery from where it still takes it name, but that have since moved elsewhere and after a period as a commercial habour where you could take the ferry to Sweden ( now replaced by a bridge ) it became what it is today...

Thanks guys... and I guess since no one else wants to share their CPH and Malmø pics I might as well post some more of mine...

I had to work on an ungodly time today, so I decided to leave the car at home and walk to work and on the way I took a couple pics of a rarely seen part of Downtown that is quite frankly quite ugly!

But before that we start off in the Frederiksberg District, walk by the "lakes" and take a look around the eastern part of Downtown

As mentioned we start off in Frederiksberg

The Radisson SAS Blu hotel is in a few of the last shots - this is a really important building, designed by Arne Jacobsen. A Danish response to the modernist American skyscrapers being designed at that time (50s). The lobby furniture is also created by Jacobsen. I think it deserves a few better pictures.

Also, these other modernist buildings aren't the worst in the world - as mid-century modern goes, these are pretty good buildings. I especially like the Imperial Hotel, and the building above the Netto.

Radisson Blu Royal Hotel is a classic. I'm saving up for a stay at room 606, which features the original Arne Jacobsen decor from the 60's, and of course some dining at skybar/restaurant Alberto K with a great view over Copenhagen.

Well.. one metropolis is an exaggeration. 12 years have gone and allthough Malmö is 35 min from Copenhagen it is not a suburb, the cities feel and look very different.

Copenhagen feels vibrant, crowded and exciting with that continental feel.

Malmö on the other hand is an old industrial ship yard city, lacks the culture, museums and flair, it has a slow pace. Allthough I have travelled through Malmö on my way to the continent about 20 times I have only really stopped off in the city once or twice, because I don't find it attractive. I was at the Stortorget in 1997 and had dinner at an open-air cafe, also drove around a bit at that time.

Next year it's going to be eurovision in Malmö and the arriving stars arrive in...Copenhagen where they stay in the hotels, spending money in Copenhagen restaurants and establishments. So what is Malmö gaining ??

Same thing when Lady Gaga did her concert in Malmö, she spent all her money in Copenhagen.

Solution: Malmö need to profile, and not be in the shadow of Copenhagen.

Copenhagen is a gorgeous, top-class, well-planned city as we can see in this thread, but the Tuborg Havn district looks very sterile and lifeless. Sure, the apartments look ok, luxurious even, but where are the shops and services on the ground floor, where are the people, where was Jan Gehl when they were designing this...loks like a cut-down modernist cookie-cutter development suitable for the car with lots of roads and car spaces.

Lovely showcase nonetheless.
