Really excited about this one; that interchange area needs something to give it some 'ooomph' - right now there is virtually nothing worth doing at Asoke other than change BTS to MRT and vice versa...but not for long, hopefully!

Wow, another genius contribution from PADTHAI.
He saw the site and "oomph".
What a William Butler Yeats he is!

Some general comments about Asoke Road:

1.- For some reason, evening and morning traffic flows have largely improved. I believe former car-drivers who switched to subway commuting after gas prices peaked last year never switched back to cars.

2.- It is now possible to cross the road without getting killed. Drivers are slowly learning to stop at red-lights.

3.- Singha-house is a pretty lively spot after hours.

4.- A small Tesco-Lotus store has opened in Grand-Parkview Asoke, where you can also enjoy some decent food-court meal. Not yet the level of Emporium or so, but someday someone will set-up a more structured food-court.

5.- A restaurant located in Asoke Towers offers gourmet quality and affordable set menus for lunch and dinner. If one is into Starbucks and coffee places: S&P etc...plenty to choose from.

6.- In the same building there is a golf simulation machine and swing practise with diagnostics.

7.- Once the University is done with its second building (as well as the Sukhumvit Living Town) and landscape architecture is completed, that part of Asoke will have underdone a thorough make-over in a record five year time frame.

8.- CNC Apartments behind 7-11 next to Sukhumvit Living Town has taken over some shop-houses, and currently refurbishing to expand its apartment service.

9.- Unlike other parts of Sukhumvit, office space exceeds condo space. Add to that a couple of years of no more condo development (TCC seems to be putting off its Petchburi Road Condo), there will be limited availability of housing for people looking to live near the airport/link-MRTA cross. New buildings as exemplified by Sukhumvit Living Town are complying strictly with building and environmental regulations. Trees can be still be spotted. Any additional construction along Asoke Road seems to be far from the enviromental disaster one can see in other parts of Sukhumvit.

10.- Street hawkers are being forced out gradually as buildings get completed and they are forced to stay clear. But in spite of this, the whole stretch between the Sukhumvit and Petchburi intersection has a very lively atmosphere during the day and it is a great spot from which to reach any part of town at any given point during the day or evening.

11.- People are buying into old buildings and thoroughly refurbishing the units as if they were brand new. More Thais living in that part of town than before.

that intersection and area is rapidly developing....I also hope they quickly connect more buildings and sidewalks to the Skytrain catwalk...encourage more foot traffic instead of car traffic

Sounds like Interchange 21, only less in creativity.

'terminal' sounds so final... It's a terrible choice of name.
