Hello Renzo_7, I've lived in Latin America before, it is a wonderful place and I had one of the best times of my life there. I like Latin American architecture (Both modern and old), and the Spanish Influenced architecture. Lima is great city. It has great weather too as cold current from the Antarctica flow pass the country. By the way, Lima translated from Malay to English means Five.

Lima comes from the native language of aymara, I guess has its roots on a flower that grows on the banks of the Rimac river, or it is another word that comes from Rimac. The spanish founded the city with the name of "Los Reyes" (The Kings), but the original name stuck.

Thanks for coming by and paying us such a nice surprise visit, Renzo!

It's much appreciated. Looks like Lima has a large number of good looking modern buildings! On the other hand, I'm simply in love with those in your second post ... I just love arches and turrets and curlicues.

That's interesting. So LIma in aymara means the name of the flower taht grew on the Rimac? I guess a lot of places derive their name from topography when settler's first arrived..........

Yeah well thats one guess, the other one, as caballoazul said, is that Lima comes from the word Rimac, the city´s river. Rimac-Limac-Lima. I think that this theory is more possible, as aymara people live in the south highlands near Bolivia, while Lima is in the central coast, more than 2,000 km away and divided by rugged snow-capped mountains, altoplains, valleys and deserts.

Cheers froM Lima "The Garden City and three times crowned city of the Kings"
