The two parts of the hotel tower seem very close to each other, and will shut out any views. But good for peeping toms I suppose!

I dont see anything special, just another white elephant modern style of the westin sukumvit and such, i agree that it should have been a land mark development and Central should have been leading with creativity and green modern efficient building...

But then again, thats just my opinion

ถ้ามีก็ขอเป็นโรงหนังแบบ ฉายหนังนอกกระแสแบบ House ก็ดีน่ะครับ และก็ตกแต่งให้แบบอาทสุดๆไปเลยก็ดี
จะได้เป็นจุดขายที่แตกต่างไป

The shoe building looks quite ok, but not quite up there with selfridges london or the other FS stuff sadly.

So is it confirmed now that Ritz Carlton will be on the other corner, and Kempinski won't be at Siam paragon but instead will be here?

Kempinski is going to be next to Central and Carlton Ritz next to Paragon..I don' mind they are both world class brands..just intrigued and surprised b the story

ผู้สื่อข่าวรายงานว่า เมื่อเร็วๆนี้ เว็บไซต์ dezeen.com ได้เปิดเผยภาพโครงการห้างสรรพสินค้าเซ็นทรัลชิดลมแห่งใหม่ บริเวณสถานทูตอังกฤษที่กลุ่มเซ็นทรัลได้ซื้อไว้เมื่อ2-3ปีที่แล้ว โดยมีสถาปนิกผู้ออกแบบคือ Amanda Levete Architects ผู้ซึ่งมีผลงานออกแบบระดับโลก

โดยคอนเซ็ปต์ของการออกแบบคือต้องการสร้างแลนด์มาร์คให้กับกรุงเทพ และสื่อให้เห็นถึงความไม่สิ้นสุดของการพัฒนา และการเคลื่อนไหวที่ไม่หยุดยั้งของกลุ่มเซ็นทรัล โดยไอเดียมาจากสัญลักษณ์อินฟินิตี้ ที่เป็นเกลียววงกลมสองอันโดยทีมออกแบบก็ร่างโครงคล้าย ๆ ตึกสองส่วนมาบิดตัวกันจนกลายเป็นรูปตึกที่ล้ำสมัยบนพื้นที่กว่า 1.5หมื่นตารางเมตร

สำหรับโครงสร้างภายนอกจะเป็น facade ทำด้วยวัสดุสะท้อนแสงทั้งตึก เพื่อที่สามารถเล่นสี สู้แสง ระยิบระยับได้ รวมถึงปรับสีสรรได้ตามการออกแบบโปรแกรมคอมพิวเตอร์

ผู้สื่อข่าวรายงานว่ากลุ่มเซ็นทรัลซื้อที่ดินบริเวณสถานทูตอังกฤษนี้ตกตารางวาละหนึ่งล้าน พื้นที่ทั้งหมดประมาณ 9 ไร่ รวมราคากว่า 3 พันล้านบาท โดยจะทำเป็นโรงแรมระดับหกดาว สูง 30ชั้น มี ritz carlton โรงแรมที่ได้รับการยอมรับจากทั่วโลก ถึงมาตรฐานการบริการและความหรูหราเข้ามาบริหาร และข้างล่างทำเป็นห้างสรรพสินค้าระดับเลิศหรู 7ชั้น และตั้งใจให้โครงการจะต้องเป็นแลนด์มารค์ของกรุงเทพ

นอกจากนี้ยังมีรายงานแจ้งว่า โครงการนี้ใช้เงินลงทุนกว่า 1.5 หมื่นล้านบาท คาดว่าจะเริ่มก่อสร้างราวปีหน้า หรือ2553 และคาดว่าจะแล้วเสร็จในปี 2556
