I hate this kind of irregular cladding design. It's a bad fashion. I'm disappointed. I much prefer the original cladding.

Same here, the new cladding makes it feel as though someone squished the building up and shattered all the glass, then glued it back together.

I have to say, though, the design is remarkable, I love the look and feel of the two "fins" outside the central structure at the top, this could've looked very sleek and modern, but now it looks like something crashed into it

Blooddy hell it's that tall already?

It doesn't look that tall from where I'm standing.

The old cladding was better, the new stuff looks reptilian - any reason for that?

the new contractor grew up on an alligator farm in florida, and so as an homage to his upbringing and parents, he asked them to produce a reptilian facade for 1IE

yeah it does look a bit - but in reality what you see there is tai koo shing, a 80/90s development which now still remains quite high in terms of property value (average 4800HKD per sq ft) so it's no where near calling it slum!

I've been there as well. It used to be upper middle class 20 years ago. But we all know HK property prices are hard to compare because the government's control ofthe land supply acts as a hidden tax. In any case, US$600 per square foot... you'd pay that for world class accomodation almost anywhere outside of Asia.

BTW, that new facade only looks irregular. Maybe it'll look good from far away.
