I thought the "fins" would be a little more prominent (taller) but the building looks fine.

Is that the Service Apartments they've been on about since I pretty much moved to Tai Koo? Near MTR Exit D?

Cladding gives it a resemblance to IFC2.

Yes! I was referring to this white&pink buildings in the above pic!

Last Sept I read in the news Swire was planning to buy those and tear it down, giving another King's Rd access to Island East. Any updates on that?

Reminds me so much of that famous tower in Roppongi, Tokyo. The one with the amazing view.

Westland Gardens? Never heard that. They look absolutely hideous from the outside, but they're actually the same as Tai Koo Shing on the inside.

Exactly what I was thinking! But the cladding on this makes the tower look so cheap. Like those cheap looking skyscrapers that are popping up all over mainland Chinese cities.

It looks excellent here. But what's with the brown concrete (?) ring at that's only half hidden by the fins at the top?

It's not a particularly flattering day/lighting. Trust me, the cladding is brilliant.

Not at all. Maybe the glass is still a bit dirty of the construction, but the cladding is definitely quality work and very well detailed. Besides that you really don't want to know the price of a curtain wall per square meter. It's very expensive...
