What sort of masonry is this? It looks too orderly to be called jointed, yet uneven to be called isodomic. Is this the vernacular style of Dubrovnik, the region or the era?

Great pics. The craftmanship is exemplary.
Dubrovnik is a "heavyweight".

That's Vlaho up there, what's up O'neill wierdo

Stradun - full of old american people

Wow, nice narrow street!

Another one...what a minute...umm...hehe...

Stradun again...

City guard marching to city entrence where thay stand on guard...

Climbing up baby! Srd, here i come!

And let me tell you something, don't climb up, like I did it - had 2 backpacks, it was 30c, and all the way you think your almost there...I almost died!
I actually climbed up coz I didn't have the money for the city walls (50kn)

and dying The city walls were packed, and up there I was all alone!

You're a big fella!

So I made it, and that's what you see up there

Dubrovnik is a "heavyweight".
Im sure its termed "Dalmatian". It is a common building style on this length of the Croatian coast. Its also noticable in the coastal hinterland as well ..... as far into neighbouring Hercegovina. Noticable in cities like Mostar, etc.

Its use of common stone which is abundant in the region.

BTW - Cole, great photo report.

Dubrovnik is an amazingly beautiful city. It is a shame though it's virtually 100% populated by tourists. Personally I prefer not to be squeezed in a a crowd of badly dressed, sweating fat middelaged Gemans

Fortunately they can hardly climb up the stairs so a bit more up it is a lot more calm hehe
